think you will need a 5 speed from a 2.8 capri, I know someone selling one, incedentally  one tip for the 5 speeds is to overfill the gearbox with oil as the 5th gear extension doesn't get much lube, and gets a bit hot in prolonged use, so I'm told. you'll need a shorter propshaft, and the splines on the clutch centre plate may be different. nitemaresracing is the cologne expert on here  lovely coupe, BTW  |

your car is basicly a left hand drive cortina so same rules would apply. you will need a gearbox from either a 2.8 capri v6 sierra or granada and a cortina auto gearbox crossmember , prop should fit as long as its the 23 spline type you may also be able to use your bellhousing as it may be needed for clutch cable placement ,not to much trouble if you can't use it but if the cable goes in from the opposite side you would need to get a longer cable made up by sombody like speedy cables . not sure on the clutch but I would assume it would use the smae clutch as the 2.3 v6 which will be fine. if your going the change the box it would be a good time to upgrade to a 2.8 or 2.9 cologne both can still be found for next to nothing and its a straight swap insidently gearbox tip is a good one but don't put to much in or you will just blow the rear seal best thing i have found is to empty out the box of any old oil while its out and refill with ep75/90 and add a friction eliminator you wouldn't belive the abuse the whiney old box in my estate gets and its still hanging in ;D |

sierra XR4i will have the right box in it as well, supposed to be slightly stronger than the earlier 5 speeds.

don't know about stronger but it does have a longer 2nd gear i have a crossmember but my spare box will need to go in the estate soon you'll find out why at one of the shows  but crossmembers yours if ya want it |
