Probably the best £100 you'll ever spend! You're well on your way to building a really cool car for less than £250 if you can find some cheapy but cool wheels and maybe some pre-loved coilies. Polish the life out of it and you'll double its value straight away. RE the oil leak from the top of the engine, it is usually the rockercover gasket, and yeah, it should just be a very simple 10min job ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

the area circled on your pic is the head gasket ...most of them leak there
its not doom n gloom like omg the headgasket has gone ..its more of a weep on the egde , you can still replace the head gasket fairly cheap on these
for the rocker gasket...those 3 bolts are barley more than finger tight , lots of people snap them so be carefull

Bit of an update, cars now insured and I'm happily driving it ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) BUT I've stumbled across some problems *sigh* ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) when I start it first thing In the morning, ill do the autochoke, but the car vibrates loads and pretty much stalls a couple time when I start it like its struggling, then sometimes once I pull off it'll just go really slow for a split second nearly stalling then it will just plow along happily? If anyone can shed some light on this It would be really helpful! Also I don't know how I'm supposed to wire a cd player into it as the wiring block is completely different to any I've seen :s

Yea thats the one, you also need the adaptor flange, and the matching choke cable. Comes out under the steering wheel to the left where the rectangular blank is ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

£25 posted for the clocks, I think the mileage on them is around 112k as thats whats on my blue GL. You can actually take them apart and "adjust" the mileage but I haven't told you that ![:|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/plain.png)

Does anyone know if the 1.8 gti 8v rev counter will plug and play straight in or would it be out of sync to the 1.3 engine?
