Well, me and the Kadett got home in one piece, with no other perils than a tyre going flat (didnt run enough psi in the stretched tyre )
As I could not find the charger for my camera, I had to take pics with my cell, so the pics taken in the dark are curse word
This is 10 minutes after the PO handed me the keys, fuelling me and the car up
Then we headed into the slightly blurry night, ignorant of the time (it was about 10 in the evening, and I had about 1000 kms to go ;D
Got on to the ferry from Stavanger to.. Somewhere else, got somewhat frightened driving the car on board, I had about a cleaved pubic hairs clearane to the floor (or is that deck? Ahoy me hearties!) when driving aboard.
Stopped and had a little stretch ;D
Some kind of oilrig thing, and 200m further there was a r33 Skyline parked..
Tunnel, some 100m below sea level
Ehhh.. I think its supposed to be a lot of snow here this time of the year, judging by the 5+ metres high roadsigns ;D
Buuut it was far from freezing (and this is in the middle of the night mind you )
There was this awesome waterfall on the other side of the road, but any attempts to take pics just turned out black, sadly...
Shaky interiour ;D Suspension is stiff as Peter North after a 2 month hospital visit :x
The lovely streets of Hardanger... I`m intoxicated at myself for not having a charged camera here..
Back into the black.. On the way to the infamous Hardangervidde, mountain pass sort of thing..
The road up there reminds me of Arlo Guthrie`s motorcycle song, "On one side of the mountain road there was a mountain, on the other side there was nothing, just a cliff in the air"
But we got up (after finding out the winter tyres I got with the car didnt fit up front :x )
Aahhh... HTN`s in the snow
Just about 500m further up the road, I was greeted by a closed gate, and a sign telling me to wait for the plow`s to form a convoy. So I waited. For 5 hours. Got me some sleep, the car idled for 5 hours without as much as a hiccup
When morning came, we headed out, only slightly slowed down by a moron russian trailer driver, who had loaded all his goods in the back of the trailer, leaving him with no traction whatsoever on the truck itself. fool. And to make things worse, he did not understand a word of english nor norwegian.
Lorry driver who told the russian where he could go (in a unpleasant but nonetheless amusing way, as the russian didnt understand squawk of what he said:P)
No complaints about the weather
"Oh, he`s looking at our fancy shiny rally car!" Errr... ;D
....more at the Rekord C caravan parked behind it ;D
Did someone say stiff?
Front wheel leaves the ground long before the rear does ;D
And yes, I changed back to HTN`s all around ;D
Weather didnt need any improvement either
.. but the roads did. I swear, I wore off about a square foot of paint on this damn road... All truck-chain mangled ice, I thought my kidneys fell out about halfway down..
And here`s the rare and elusive VW Double-Cab.... Tractor?
Finally, after x number of detours (making my journey not just 1000kms, more like 1200.....) Taken 5 minutes before waking my buddy in Trondheim up and falling asleep on his couch.. At that point I had been driving for about... 29 hours.. Only sleep was the 5 hours at Hardangervidda...
I`ll get up some pics of spots in Trondheim later, and i`m sad to say I don't have any pics of the journey from Trondheim to home, as it was bloody dark...
