Got an ad up in the swaps section with a piccy. Will get some more pictures when the scaffolding is down from next door and I can get her out from undercover. I bought an E34 recently and the rear windows didn't work. The cure? Open and slam the rear doors several times. The glass sticks to the weather strips if they aren't used for extended periods and slamming the doors frees them up.
I'm not looking for another E34 but just out of curiosity how is the starting from cold/hot?

, it starts perfect from cold but does have the old "hot start issue" but only takes 6-7 turns if you leave it for over an hour or so Hi there, Can you clarify the hot start issue??? ie always starts from cold but you have to leave it for an hour and then it finally starts when hot. or starts 90% of the time when hot and occasionally has to be left.. Gadgetgricey- these things always start! As they get older though, they get a bit slower to start from hot (it's something to do with the fuel pumps). The M51 is a very good engine!

The problem is an old type of lift pump is used in tank. When the pump has been running it gets hot, then when you turn off the car after use this causes evaporation of fuel in fuel pipe, this causes it to take a few more turns than normal depending on how long it is left - how much diesel has evaporated. That's the best interpretation of the situation i have managed to gather over the time i've had the car. It's never let me down from hot or cold start.
