Right, my Merc hasn't moved much for the past 6 months or so, and one of the tyres has a slow puncture. It's been stood for a time with only a few psi in it. The other tyres seem to have stayed up but probably not with the required pressures inside.
So, will this have damaged my tyres at all? Will I be needing a bank-busting set of new boots, or will I be OK? Any way to check?

pump em up, jack the car up and spin em, if they look round then take it for a spin and see how it feels, if theres any strange wobbles/vibrations/noise they fit new tyres. Inspect them closely before test driving.

Oh, and if all seems well, remember to check em as often as you can incase any faults start to show up withing a few days of driving it.

Cheers vw, will do. Test drive is off the cards as it has no MOT & Tax but I can give 'em the once-over with it in situ. I really can't afford a full set of tyres so I'm hoping they'll be OK!

Faulty tyres (I find) show up as bulges in the tread or sidewall shortly after starting to use them again (like what VW says).

check for cracks in the walls too.

Thanks for the advice, will do all of the above! Worryingly the first journey the car will make after the MOT will probably be a 300 mile trip north... maybe I ought to do a few laps of the block before then though, just to check all is well ;D

Just go easy on ya journey, chances are they should be ok if ya careful (on top of the advice above). Noticed that my old tyres were dodgy, a lot more dodgy than i thought. didnt notice till new wheels went on. got through MOT with a stern advisory. not sure this pic is any use...cracks in sidewall all stretched, but thats mainly cos they are old!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Had the same problem as you with my 35. The front offside tyre has a slow leak. After pumping it back up and cheacking there was nothing wrong. Not so lucky with the Hornet though
