unfortunately the time has come to sell my beloved Breadvan. It has served me well for the last 18 months and I'm sure it will continue on in someone else's hands!
It has just failed its MOT and I don't have the time or space to sort myself or I would. I need a quick sale as ive just landed on an '89 Jetta!
Right, bad bits. These are the failures as seen on the MOT. These are not as bad as they sound, just a bit of fettling and welding and jobs-a-goodun!
Rear o/s & n/s seatbelt mountings corroded.
Rear o/s & n/s inner and outer arches corroded.
The front springs need adjusting as there not quite sat right (my fault when I lowered it) and the fuel filter bracket needs a cable tie or two to secure it a bit better. IT IS NOT rotten, just a little rusty here and there and genuinely its is solid underneath! I think the tester had an irritating bum grape on test day and decided to vent his anger on my little breadvan.
The paint job is showing its age, peeling lacquer, rust blisters on all arches including boot BUT I have 2 front wings and a boot lid primed ready to fit/spray.
Good bits:
Taxed. Only on 75,500 miles. Recently received a fuel, oil, air filter service with new oil (still golden) and plugs. New back box and centre section. Painted front struts, roll bar, rocker cover, rad housing and front subframe in black hammerite. All four tyres are in great condition. All original inside including Blaupunkt headunit. New galvanised fuel tank fitted 3 months ago. lowered 60/40 on springs. Interior in great condition.
All in all this is a great little car that is by no means slow either, even though its only a 1.3 8v. Engine is very torquey, smooth and has NEVER let me down once. Starts equally as good in the summer as it does winter. Electrics are all working. Ive retro-fitted a set of washer jet spray bars (the kind found on vans) which are a novel feature. Full of original features and was owned by a little old lady before me for around 10 years. I have that many receipts that show almost every-time she took it to a local garage, she got fobbed off and spent on average £300!
I will add more pics tomorrow of under the bonnet, as referred by the MOT tester as 'the cleanest ive ever seen'. Just needs a little fettling and should make someone a great little runabout.
I'm open to offers, but if its a stupid one don't be offended if I reply with some sort of sarcasm! I'm not interested in swaps as before mentioned, I have no room! And I need to concentrate on sprucing the Jetta.
Call me for more info, defo worth a look and is only mildly rusty! 07532440742. Mike.
