Yesterday I saw a car comming towards me and automatically assumed Volvo 480. It wasn't but made me realise it's quite a while since i saw one ! Always like the rear view but find the front a bit clumsy and too long. Paul H

Volvos have all looked to long in the front since they worked out it makes them safer in a crash, its not the length, its the front wheels being set back to far.
IMO any car that has more metal sticking out in front of the front arch than it does between the rear of the arch and the rear of the wing looks weird.
Photoshop the wheels further forwards and it improves the look no end, in fact it works on lots of stuff with a long front overhang.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

They're from the '80s and they have pop-up lights. Why wouldn't you want one?

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Always wanted a 480! Tore one apart to use the engine in a clio, the crash bars in the doors are immense! (the car had been rear ended so wasnt killed for no reason!)

There's an old retired guy who sometimes comes to the car club workshop at work who owns two. One's his daily, the other is his spares car.

It's really weird when you notice they still bothered to put the emblem on the grill.

Wow, this brought back some memories, I had one, the 1.7 non turbo 480ES and always wished I'd bought the turbo one instead. I loved it though, rode really well and stuck to the road in corners because of low centre of gravity. The ES must have stood for En Suite as they always used to leak into the boot through the rear lights!

Awesome, nearly bought one as my third ever car, but a manta was cheaper on the insurance so went that way instead. Just think, I could be smoking round in a 340 instead of a Mk2 astra for my daily now... Yesterday I saw a car comming towards me and automatically assumed Volvo 480. It wasn't but made me realise it's quite a while since I saw one ! Paul H Anyway, I want to know what it was that you thought was a 480???

Had one a few years ago and it was, without doubt, the worst and most unreliable car I have ever owned. It regularly needed push starting (electrical gremlins) and once, when I went over a bump, a huge amount of stuff fell out of the engine bay, no idea what as the car remained just as dreadful afterwards.
Anyway, I never want one again.
I'll just add that I had a quite unreliable Skoda Rapid too and I'd love another one of those!

This one probably has less water in the boot than any I've been in. My Dad's leaked like sieve from nearly new (bought one about 18 months old) and was subject to protracted legal wrangling with the dealership. Met a couple of owners who just drilled holes in the boot to let it out. Seemed to come in by the rear lights a lot, and the front scuttle drain holes would fill letting water in the front footwell and from memory near the fusebox. My sister never cleared the drain holes and eventually had standing water in the whole car whenever it rained. Stank like a wet dog. Looked nice though and went well! I liked the decent rear sears as well -

I liked the decent rear sears as well - No room for an adult of my size behind my driving position! Luckily mine does seem to leak, well so he says! I did used to park with the nose in the air though!
