And there you have an education in the Summernats scene. I'm surprised that you were able to take so many photos that didn't have chicks with all their bits hanging out -- or perhaps that's just the photos I (try to avoid) see(ing) on AusRotary. You can see that the "scene" hasn't really progressed past big chrome wheels on everything. Bo-oring IMO. You can also see in some of the pics the latest abomination of a trend that is whitewalls on low-profile tyres over billet alloys. That people will walk around past cars "crusing" and will stand next to them as they do static burnouts on the cruise strip boggles the mind. Can you tell I'm not into the 'nats?

Saru, the women(if thats what you call them anyway) can be avoided easily most of the time with little effort. I agree with the chrome wheels and whitewalls comments but I still love going. There is still loads of quality cars and events that really are something special to watch and pictures never do them any justice at all, inparticular the quality of the bodywork and mechanicals which is what interests me most. Well thats my opinion anyway.
Utterpiffle, that little aqua rotarised 323 from day one is actually supercharged and turbocharged aswell. One of my favourites. That light purple car you compared to a Vauxhall Viva is a LC Torana.
You past Sydney yet?

There are some seriously nice cars with some mega paint and detailing but most are let down by the nasty choice of wheels.

I've spent over an hour checking out all those pics, and i'm going to have a second look now, absolutely awesome! Thanks for taking the time to upload all those photos to share with us, must have taken you forever! But well worth it A very distinctive scene the Australians seem to have, I love the huge engine element of it, some incredible engine installs! Also a lot of amazing bodywork, very impressive Definately a questionable taste in wheels for most of them though! Awesome

Hahahaha I see the Aussie style of modding doesn't float so well.... huge chrome seems to be the order over there! Awesome, awesome pics utterpiffle, I'm definitely going to book a trip over to see Summernats in the future. I love: The Lada Niva The orange/black Suzuki Mighty Boy The Gemini with the twin turbo setup - did you notice it's also been chopped to be pillarless??!! It's a work of art! The BLOJOE RX3 id gorgeous as well! And that MS50 CROWN wagon with 7M-GTE motovation is ALMOST perfect, I would lose the horrendous wheels and roll on some smoothies instead

This isn't actually shortened, it's a J market Isuzu MU (no curse word, it actually, seriously stands for "Mysterious Utility") and when they're not scraping the tarmac like that one, they make quite capable offroaders!
