Those look worse, to be honest. Like a fat guy that someone's punched in the face and given a really fat lip.

a couple of smallish photos on the internet aren;t really enough to say whether its well crafted or not. Its been built by Roush which should be a good indication of a job done well, but theres just a lot of it make sit look a bit tacky to me. There was a Mustang same shape and age on the cover of Car Craft last month or so which was an absolute dictionary definition of how to built one IMO. Nice straight paint (slighly "popped" version of an original colour for the car), upgraded original interior, loadsa power under the bonnet, moddified suspension but still with sensible gorund clearance and plenty of rubber but again on wheels which suit the proportions of the car rather than make it look like a Hot Wheels toy or a drawing in Max Power and plenty of original chrome and detail features not "Type R" badges from Halfords... One of the few exteme/modern/g-machine style rides that I think works 100% is Chicayne, the '62 Chevy Biscayne bubble top coupe built a few years abck by Rad Rides by Troy by the chap behind Billet Specialties. oblig. "indoor car show" shot... Although this thing is properly street driven and abused like its twin turbos say it should be... A lot of people have tried to copy this car or do the same tricks on other makes and models and haven't carried it off half so well. This is one of my favourite modifed cars ever. Check out the website www.chicayne.com

I think that 'stang is a superb piece of work. I'm not a fan of the billet bits or the modern wheels but I cannot fault the level of craftsmanship. I don't care if a car has had $100 or $100000 put into it ...if it's well done, i like it. This is so much nicer than that riced up abortion that was in the Gone in 60 Seconds remake.

Again, I don't like everything Troy's ever done 100% but he does turn out some neat stuff, and people do then tend to copy it and do a half assed job of it. Unfortuanely this also makes you less fond of the original. There werre a rash of Sniper clones when he built that, and I always thought those cut back headlamps made the proportions of the front wings look dumpy, but someof the "trying to go one btter than that but nicking his idea" rides which came out were really narsty. I went to a rod show in the US recently and far too many cars there had Mercedes headlights... His recent trad deuce shows that he really does know how to do perfect proportions and put a car 100% right. Find a fault with this car and I'll just have to tell you that you are w-r-o-n-g One of the best '32s evAh.

It would be interesting to see them the other way round - A maestro with that paintjob and wheels and the Mustang painted beige with larger versions of the 1.3 HL steel wheels.

A terrible car....always has been always will be and best forgotten ;D This just is what it is......a great creation, regardless of cost......I suppose it's art, some folk get it,others don't. its not really a question of art or "getting it" its just that as has been shown there are far better examples of this new trend of modernising old american muscle. besides there is nothing curse word about a beige maestro. they are just a normal old car that you don't see about as much. i think you need to dig deeper on this forum abit to understand that a lot of people don't come on here to see the latest big bucks creation from america

I come on here to see big bucks creations from America AND Beige Maestros... Its why this place exists.
The ammount of money spent on a car has absolutely no bearing on weather its a cool car or not... I dislike inverse car snobbery as much as I dislike car snobbery.
There are some awesome cars that cost tens of thousands or more to build.. and there are awesome cars that have cost less than a hundred.

I think you need to dig deeper on this forum abit to understand that a lot of people don't come on here to see the latest big bucks creation from america I don't think i do....i don't come on here to see the latest big bucks creations from the us either, but i do appreciate seeing them when they are posted.....nor do i come on here to see beige maestros come to think of it and generally don't click on any posts containing the word in the title,so i'm not quite sure what the point is you are making? I just can't see how one can not like this yet get all gooey eyed about one of the worst cars evar! (imo of course) I think it's great to see people thinking outside the box regardless of it costing big bucks and it's just another variation of what many many people are acheiving on here with their rides.

What about a hybrid of the two, a Maestrang..available as a 5.0 HL or the sporty yet economical 1.3 Mach 1.

I've no objection to someone spending $100K on a car, $200K, whatever. If its all in bling then its not for me though. Goodness only knows what that '32 by Trepanier or Chicayne cost to build. Love 'em. Concepts that work right through from bumper to bumper. Leno's Buick Roadmaster or the Toronado. Probably cost zillions to build but are way subtle until you look and see... Not just "what can we spend a load of cash on so people will know we spent it" wheich is how a lot of the big $$$ type cars strike me now.
