Hi there,
I have a weber 28/36 on the way, but due to more pressing issues aka THE BRAKES! I'm not going to be fitting it for a while, so I thought I might as well send it off a refurb so that I know there's less likely to be any thing stopping it from working, and that it will look a bit pimp as well!
Where is a good place to go? I've heard "southern carbs" mentioned, just wondered if there were any other places?
Also, i know its probably a bit vague, but any idea how much it's likely to cost?

:)I'm fairly sure you can still buy rebuild kits for most Weber carbs and rebuild it yourself.

I've previously got through loads of Weber and Stromberg rebuild kits while messing about with Viva and Sierra carbs (mostly Webers off 1.6 Emax and 2.0 DOHC Sierras), the kits have always had all the necessary screws / springs / gaskets etc.
Finding a rebuild kit or Weber replacement for a Sierra auto VV though is proving bloody tricky - maybe these bits aren't so easy to get hold of now!

Strange all the ones I have used have only had the needle/ gaskets no actual hardware so to speak. Which is frustrating.

I rebuilt my 38dgas carb on sunday. rebuild kit cost me 15 quid from the webber centre(northampton motorsport) and it looks better now. i cleaned it with petrol. the only things I didnt get in the kit were the mixture screw rubbers, and power pump diaphram. they will be in the genuine kit tho. do you want me to get there contact number??

tip for cleaning carbs; try using cellulose thinners I've always used it, the aluminium often comes up quite nice. doesn't always take all of the tarnish away, but i reckon you'd need some pretty caustic chemical to shift it then, not good for us D-I-Yers. thinners is also good for cleaning the inside of the carb, jets etc. unlike petrol, it leaves almost no residue.
