en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Accord^^^ has a bit of info. I've tried doing a search for modified ones and drawn a bit of a blank although plenty of pictures of standard ones searching for gen2, sy accord and ad accord. Love the shape of that! Cant say I've seen one in the flesh

You might want to spend some time here: www.3geez.com/forum/index.phpOn the 2Geez section. Parts can be bad to find, it took me 3years to find a mint rear bumper for the saloon I had. The oval guys wanted them as they are double box section steel, plastic coated. Hondamatic is a semi auto and super sweet to use.

I had one many moons ago, R reg i think? bought with rose-tinted specs, car needed quickly etc
3 months later on ramp for MOT & basically fell apart, never seen so much chalk on a car!
check it over carefully as any car that old, even Honda's rust.

They do indeed rust.
My favorite was the wedge Aerodeck, 3dr with pop up lights. I'd still love a tidy one of those.

Its a 1600cc...not 1800cc as advertised..1800cc were available on the face lifted series 2 Mk2 accord. I have had four of these and they have never broken down. they are very smooth...the engine should purr when gently revved (like clockwork) the way only a Honda sounds its a 1602cc 80bhp This model accord is not that economical...it was much improved when the face lifted series 2 Mk2 was introduced (this being a series 1 Mk2) At the time...series 1. £15 petrol...105 miles. series 2. £10 petrol..100 miles. (series 2 Has 4 speed Hondamatic) Nice interior shade on the one your looking at...Ive never had that shade. Nice dash and instrument layout in these....the speedo and clocks look great...even the fuel low/empty light looks great when illuminated..lol It came as 5 speed manual...or the more popular 3 speed Hondamatic semi automatic gearbox, On this model there is no kick down when accelerating..it has to be manually selected from the the 3 options on the gear selector. (In normal driving situations...there is no need to keep selecting the right gear for speed conditions as its higher 2 gears which ever you choose are pretty suited, but for extra mpg...get it in to OD at 35mph for extra economy) Gear selector has L-60 mph max. *(star)-85 mph max. OD-top speed. (each selector is one whole gear...it does not change up or kick down) Top speed 95mph (auto) The wheel pcd is 4x100..its on 5j13 Great car...well worth the price Mk2 Series1 Saloon Mk2 Series1 Hatchback JDM (Note...I do not own these images. Well heres my little baby resting in the grass Front looks different though to the other ones pictured? Or is it me? Yours is a post-facelift, it happened in 1983, so yours and the one in the OP are either side of the threshold.

[/quote] This is the series 2 Mk2. Performance and economy are improved on these...as they are new 12valve Engines The 1598cc has 90 bhp....the 1829cc has 100 bhp Both engines are pretty nippy..and smooth. The 1829cc is the same engine used in the Honda Prelude 1.8dx/ex ;D Prelude 1.8 was 125bhp from 1984 upwards (keihin twin carburetor) 1983 prelude was 106 bhp (unknown carburetor) The ride was further improved on these series 2...they handle better with less body roll If one can find the twin keihin carburetor+manifold and exhaust manifold from the prelude 1.8 engine...then you have 125 bhp in an accord Back in the days....the Honda Prelude 1.8 used to give the Toyota Corolla Gt Twin Cam 16 a hard time. ;D Mk2 Series2 Saloon Mk2 Series2 Hatchback (Note...I do not own these images. the old man had one of these in a four door, with an 1800 injected in it which he was proud of and showed off regularly lol. revelation after being carted around in BL stuff as a kid. The interior was amazing-carpets that felt like real wool, incredible array of knobs and buttons. The locally assembled ones weren't as well-equipped but rusted slower than the J imports. Learned to drive in it, very fond memories.

yes, digital speedo, correct. sounds about right although not that rare in NZ once they removed import duty. Also had "anti lock brakes" from memory, not sure if they were like ABS. the more I think about it the more I remember what a nice car it was. Taking a girl out in that was much better than in the horrible Avenger dad had before the Honda.

Almost bought a Gen 3 Accord as a replacement for the Acclaim, lovely 2L engine (smooth and fast) and super armchair sofa inside. They do suffer from the usual rust and not the most economical.

Mk3 Honda Accord The third generation Accord's were available with 3 engine options (UK) 2.0 Carb 12valve, 2.0 pgm-fi 12valve, 2.0 pgm-fi Dohc 16valve 2.0 carb 105 Bhp 2.0 pgm-fi 121 Bhp 2.0 pgm-fi 137 Bhp (dohc 16v) It was available as a 4dr saloon or 3dr Aero Deck Hatch All new styling with larger body's with new engines Honda's were happy with the 12 valve designed heads...as to them it performed as good as a 16valve head.....if its good enough for them...then its good enough for me. (they were however concentrating on high power 16valve dohc engines) The most popular model was the Saloon 2.0 EXI (12 valve) it was a quick car....i used to race Cavaliers Sri's Sierra's...rep mobiles etc no problem. The Dohc 16 was a limited Edition model...and came in special colour choice....it had the same engine used in the Honda Prelude (86-87 model) These Honda's were low in height...they were designed by Honda that way to aid in handling by having a low centre of gravity. If you sat in one of these...you were sitting lower than any competitors car.....You look at them....they look at you....you be 5 inches lower. lol Honda realized the rust issue that was occurring with euro destined cars and improved rust protection on this model....they still rust...but Faired better than previous Honda's. The Areo Deck model has pop up lights....If these parts are (lights wings bonnet) interchangeable with the saloon....than you would have a seriously cool and even better looking Accord. (JDM) Honda Accord Aero Deck 2.0 EXI UK Model Honda Accord 2.0 EXI UK Model JDM Accords...More Options...Note the Pop Up Lights on Saloon Two Tone...Looks Great...and the Best Wheel Trims Ive Seen (Note...I do not own these images.
