I cant access the page but if its smoking it might be worth reckoning on another engine - smoke could be piston rings or anything - cant see how much its at but but they do go for good money, I got £450 for one that had a good engine but that was it - cracked screen, no test, f**cked interior, bumped front end, stolen recovered, filthy beyond belief. The guy phoned me 6 months later to say it was back on the road and mint!
From what I can gather T5s have a strong following but they arent low maintenance cars. How much is it at and what does it actually say about the smoking/turbo?
I cant find the car anywhere and the link doesnt work for me.

Yes, much. The car looks nice, smoking when its warmed up could well be the piston rings if its nothing do with the turbo. However, if you can outbid the first guy by bidding £150 perhaps then do it, it`ll break and weigh in for more than that.
Personally I think when someone sells a tidy, well looked after car with a fault like that it could be because they`ve had a nasty diagnosis and some equally nasty quotes. It just depends whether its Volvo who`ve frightened them to death or an independant. Try ringing round some Volvo breakers and ask them about 2nd hand turbos. And engines while youre at it.

It does look awful tidy doesn't it? I'll look at whole engine cost as worst case. I guess turbo at best.

Ave some of that! Would be criminiminal to let that go if it stays this side of 300-odd.

Yeah I`d say 3-400 is about its mark, you should hopefully have it back to full health with a grand down in it (2nd hand bits, don't go to Volvo unless youre looking for 6 new numbers for the lottery) and it would be worth a fair bit more than that by that time.

Salvo in Derbyshire sell used good engines. They quoted my £170 on a good 940 turbo lump.
