Others here may be more experienced but I'll voice my thoughts.
The conventional flexi you link to (your first link) I am fairly sure has to be kept straight for long life. So much so that many a repair manual has quoted adding supports to each side and tieing them up to keep the flexi straight (or simply being damn careful) when they are being removed from a car. Their purpose seems more for allowing for small movements in the exhaust system (i.e going over a speed bump, or engine movement when changing gear etc.) rather than being a substitute for a bend in the exhaust system.
The second one looks more fitting for the job you want it to do (I guess you need a physical bend in the exhaust system?).
Is there nothing (2 bent pipes for example) a local exhaust company can knock up on the cheap?

Yup, the normal flexy you posted first needs to be kept more or less straight, it's only designed to absorb vibration and engine movement under load. The second flexy you posted is designed to be bent at more of an angle, but they are pretty pants and leak and end up blowing after not too long.
Just get a proper bit of pipe bent, or wedge cut some straight pipe and make it into a bend.
