Hi all,
Been a while since I've been on here, but always lurking (especially in the for sale section !). Some of you might remember my old 360 GLT which unfortunately I had to scrap due to it being rotten!
I ended breaking the car. In the meantime ran some other cars as dailies, including a 325tds, a couple of Eunos's and a few more modern FWD toss Volvo's since the days of being a student were long gone!
I also owned this B reg 360 GLS about 18 months ago which I really liked but it didn't get under my skin like the GLT's previously did. However, the B19A engine with Stromberg CD175 gives brilliant throttle response!
So fast forward to February where I get tipped off about a potential minter for sale in the Volvo Owners Club mag. Gave the guy a call and it sounded just as good as it did. 2 previous owners, last owner since 1989, always garaged and most importantly no rust.
Arranged a trip down to Portland, Dorest with a load of cash in mind with bringing the car back. The previous owners were a retired couple who made us lunch, had a great chat with and then we got to have a going over the car and a test drive. Not much of a chore with it looking like this on the day(!)
So the car... pretty insane, I was always skeptical about no rust but it really doesn't have any and I've since gone over it with a fine tooth comb!
80's tastic
Tidy interior with electric windows, electric mirrors, manual tilt/slide sunroof, heated seats, 4x speakers original stereo and remote central locking
Lower bodywork condition, the other side's just as good
The paint comes up beautifully with a wash
I detest the original wheels so decided to replace these with some period 15x6 alloys and matching Toyos all round. Also found the old grille badge that I had on my old GLT
Took the car to the Volvo Owners Club national and managed to pip first in class, to my surprise given the competition! Plans for the car involve keeping it in the condition it's in, a true testament to the previous owners. For a bit more 'go' I may in the future look into upgrading it to a 2.3 or 16v N/A but for now just enjoying it as is!
