This weekend I went to a little show in Cape Town, thought I'd share some of the pics. Auto Union 1000 - Never seen one of these before, certainly not modified - pretty funky if you ask me. Were they ever available in the uk? Sadly doesn't look to be the most powerful of beasts! Bedford van with obligatory 70's styling ideas: "Perana" v8 capri Pretty low Renault Dauphine, I think most have these have rotted away back home in the uk! This Zephr looked like it meant business And finally a little morris 8 I think:

I think the Zephyr is a 57 Fairlane, but I might be all to cock on that.

I think it is too But thanks for the pics, I have a lot of love for that smoothed van What a strange cross-section of vehicles!

Auto Union 1000 - Never seen one of these before, certainly not modified Except for the wheels one assumes? Unless Auto Union was waaaaayyyy ahead of their time

whoops! Thanks for the correction, clearly not a zephyr!
On the Auto Union, I was meaning I definitely hadn't seen a modified one, not that that one isn't modded!

They were sold here but in understandably small numbers so not many remain. This is a right hand drive one I saw at a show back in 2007

Left to that Yella Morris is a Sierra XR8 ... Another of my bucket list cars to be bought before their prices goes completely through the roof.

Nice selection there. Whereabouts in CT was this little gathering and is it an annual event?

I had one a four door though but it was called a DKW 1000. How many 16 year old can say they own a DKW. I had another 1/2 as spares. Lovely smooth 3 pot 2 stroke. It had 3 sets of points as it had 3 coils. I used a sellotape tube lid as the cap for the points . It had a 44ft turning circle so was a bit of a mission getting it into the garage. As it was a 2 stroke it had a freewheel fitted so you didn't ruin the engine when off throttle. It was a spacious 6 seater. Leaf spring transverse at front below the radiator. Had to premix the fuel which was a bit boring Adrian
