I'm gonna be looking for a new daily at the end of Jan, have been doing 200m a week in the Range Rover since August, and have a list of mechanical jobs as long as your arm that need doing....nothing serious, the back axle's noisy so it needs new bearings, seals and possibly a diff, and I want to polybush it 'coz it's got all the directional stabilty of an oil tanker at the minute.......plus I've got a load of new panels and stuff to go on it, and want to have a go at doing the headlining and carpets.... I've got a 3-door diesel Pug 205 with knackered brakes and heater, but that's about as much fun as putting your face in a lawnmower to drive...plus I'm loathed to spend any money on it because it's A. worthless and B. horrible. But the shell's solid, and the rally boys LOVE 3dr 205 shells. ;D Got about £1k to spend, have been offered an 3dr 1400 Astra Mk2 which is a 75k one OAP owner minter, will only be about £250 off a lad at work....or do I buy something silly and risk the considerable wrath of SWMBO.......decisions decisions!! I'm seeing a slammed DisAstra.......I'm too old, I'm too old!!

Smallish, sub 1400, reliable, fun, different. Insurance ain't much of a problem at 42 with full NCB...the Pug costs me £175 a yr Fully Comp, the Rangey £107 Fully Comp on limited miles policy.
Would LOVE a Senator, but have to travel almost 40m round trip a day commuting though, even at 32mpg the Rangey's costing me over £100 a month to get back and forth to work.
At almost 60mpg the Pug would be ideal for that if it wasnt so horrible to drive, I know some people love em, but I think they are hateful, hateful cars. I only bought it because I killed my Cav and needed wheels pronto out of the local freeads. I can't even think about modifying it, even with 155x13's on the steering's as heavy as lead (no PAS), the gear lever's like stirring a knitting needle in a bucket of wallpaper paste, the heater's knacked and it handles like a greasy pig on ice. YUCK!!
The Astra's looking likely, what would I do to it though?? Nothing of mine remains standard for long, no matter how I resist the temptation, even if it ends up being totally trashed due to my 'Rock Ape' driving style ;D.....and I don't want it to end up looking like a ChavMobile....lmao

Mk2 astra sounds good, not many around and i think they are great cars. Infact has many of our members got a mk2 astra?? They can be made to look brilliant with tasteful mods.

My old mans got a Mk2 Astra, no subtle mods for this one though, its ataying as it left the factory. He took the induction kit it came with off and put a factory spec air box back on. Although, black wide steels and a whack with the lowing stick may be just what it needs.

Me?........yeah, totally! ;D to second, see if you cant get a sub-£100 mot'd fav on ebay. then get 45mpg even driving fairly hard... and they rallied them in gpN for a while with pretty much stock handling and enough poke for me to have rattled off a kill list as long as the range rovers bitZ list lol
