Model: 2.0 UK spec rev4 gti 16v, Azure blue (rare colour) Manual non import. Good condition interior no real signs of use to show it's mileage. 2 owners including myself from new, Serviced with Toyota dealerships up until 180k. Cambelt done at 182k along with clutch. New recent front calipers, handbrake cables, Alternator, genuine toyota plug leads (£95). Replaced rear bumper and sprayed after an incident with a post, poor choice in bodyshop means it wasnt prepped right, not hugely noticable. No rust in arches but a few marks and scuffs and stone chips along the way. Has been my daily for around 7 years, driven mainly on the motorway. Still goes well and generally passes first time on the MOT. Rev 4 means it gets the afterburner lights and clear indicators as standard, no other real differences. American red side repeaters, because they looked cool. I would carry on owning this car but have decided to use petrol before it goes up any more and bought an rx8. Year: 1998 Mileage: 218k Tax: around 5 month MOT: Until December 19th 2012 Location: Shelley (Huddersfield/Wakefield) Price: £600 ITS A STEAL I NEED THIS GONE TO PAY FOR A GAS CONVERSION ON THE RX8 ( and the 2 blown coil packs).Contact details: 07963353440 blackledgedavid @ Hotmail dot com

It's served me well for about seven years. As only the second owner I bought it with 125k on the clock. More fun than just buying a boring vectra or something. Almost forgot, new coil 2 months ago as well.
I don't know why this has been moved to not particularly interesting. It's not like its a boring micra or eurobox or something. No Disrespect to micras or euroboxes.

Seeing as it's been moved to the boring section then it probably will be. Pity to see it go as it's been a great fun car. But I've bought a rx8. Although the fuel and imploding engine may make me want to go back.

Although theres a tuner on Passionford (reyland) currently fitting a 1.8t vw motor in one, could be interesting!!! There's an rx7 the curvy shape with an ls2 'vette motor on there too. It looks WOW!!!

Looking into LPG as ive just done my figures and it's coming out at 24.7 mpg doing 300 miles a week. But then I'm balancing it by using our 1.4 rover next week that will do the same trip for £35 rather than 70.
Using fuel before it becomes outlawed or just a pastime of the rich.
The engine has given me concerns but I've been reading up on it for a while and it's the reason I went for a later model (mines a 56 reg with 26k on the clock) which I got for £2,200. It's fairly spotless and has a full mazda history.
Looking at everything else I could get that was far more dull for that cash I wouldnt get much.

just to ease your minds I'm an ex mazda technician. rx8 are pretty bullet proof if you change oil regular and turn them off properly. even mazda say that when coming to turn the engine off. let it idle for a few seconds, then rev to 4500rpm for 5seconds and turn the key off, at the same time as turning the key off put your foot flat to the floor on the acclerator and this purges the fuel out of the rotary chamber. (also means it'll start first time everytime) if it doesnt start at anytime, theres a multiplug on the o/s/f strut top area, disconect that and turn it over while squirting a very small amount of eazi start into the airbox, once runing plug the plug back in and off you go, hope this helps you out. oh yeah love the mr2

Cheers for the heads up, I knew you were supposed to rev it before you turned it off to help with carbon build up and bore wash but not the specifics, so thanks for that. It's my new child so it will be getting regular servicing and polishing. I'm using it everyday so it needs to work.
The neighbours are going to love me revving to 4500 at 7 every night, haha.
Do you know anything about putting these on lpg? I know it was developed for hydrogen as well so must be capable. Only seen a couple of examples done.
Still for sale!

I've seen this bobbing around Wakey, I clocked you the other day going past the tip at Calder island, I was in the Whale.
Anyway, I digress, a very nice looking motor, and if both of mine were to sell today I'd be sorely tempted...
