Just had a go at stripping down the axle on the pop. Really fed up with that poxy thing now.
I can't get the drums off the damn thing so it looks like it needs that special puller. I just chewed up my hub puller trying to get the damn things off. I kind of knew secretly that the axle from Chris wouldn't just go straight on, it's just the way it always happens. There are a couple of bushes missing that are pressed in, well the sleeve is there but the rubber bits are missing and I have no way of getting them out or getting new ones realistically. Plan B was to transfer the guts from one axle to another but since I can't get the drums off there's not much chance of that at the moment either.
Grrrr I was thinking go out and get a new puller tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed but then it needs another tool to pull the pinion out etc etc etc.
I'm at the point where I'm about to phone someone for a quote... Who in SE London/Kent does old cars?
