it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The yard is full of cars i'd never even think of scrapping. Currently there's a red Maestro in there with no rot whatsoever, prob just an engine fault! As a bonus, he's very happy to sell complete cars and like i said there's always loads in that shouldn't be there!

Its Looms in Derby, they do drain all the fluids, but thats pretty much it. If you look at the topdown pic, theres another half again above it, then at the bottom there's the huge crushing yard with the big machines and stacks of cubed steel. I love it

The Citroen GS is a criminal waste of a decent motor. I'd have happily taken that away and stashed it in my shed with all the other tat.

Haven't been there in years but it used to be good. There was a good one out near Dorchester if I remember rightly. I think it was Angel Autos.

You have to love Albert Looms, something for everyone! They have a website too that lists every vehicle they have in, so no wasted journeys either! www.albertlooms.com

but one was saved : Friend of me picked this up last weekend.... this must be the first Passat, that gets back to germany.... ;D Nice one MrJ!!!! I love international rescue missions. I found a really nice passat saloon like that one in a scrapyard in Wisbech this week, 1986 model, same colour but with alloys. I'd have been reaching for my wallet if it hadnt had another car on its roof.

Whoa! I thought that was Looms just from the aerial shot, and I don't even own a helicopter! Is the lane leading to it still littered with Metro tail light lenses? ;D My mate John and myself used to frequent this place a fair bit as his folks live across Derby way. It was a good source of cheap bits as I recall! John and myself sourced around seven Maestro digital dashboards on one occasion, we got the widdle ripped out of us for that! ;D They came in at £7 a piece including speech synth units and computers, just try finding such an item these days! I still have a few knocking around, I think! that said, that was only six years ago! I've been meaning to go back there for ages! I'll be needing some parts for the 16v Maestro soon, so I'll be frequenting Jenkinsons near Stone (another properly old skool and reasonably priced yard) and Looms in the next few months!

Looking at your 'sig' Topi, i'm sure there's a matt black P100 sitting near the back of his yard with 'TrampDrift' sprayed down the side. I'll try and get a pic...
