He couldnt put anymore time into it, because it was built for a pilot tv show, and the whole point is to build a car in 4 days. Its a cross between Panic Mechanic and Pimp My Ride.
I don't really like the look of the car, TBH.
The bodykit on Mentley Insane was actually originally for a Montego, and was cut and shut to fit. Was also painted at my mates shop, Kustom Kolors, who have Jonny's 64 Impala in for restoration.

aha, that explains a lot of it which is not mentioned in the article. Typical half a story reporting.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I am not a fan, the front end looks like it has been done by one of those barry bodyshops that simply clack ill-fitting lights from other cars onto Corsas using dexion and bog.

front lights don't fit properly, grille is too square, wheels are the wrong offset and size, and it sits about an actre too high 4 days is a good turnaround though, although surely itd take longer than that for the paint to hardfen out properly

That Pontiac he did was lush. The '57 Ford he did was stunning. The amount of subtle detail in it was amazine. I also liked his Citroen "swan" thing. At the time that was like nothing else anyone had ever seen.
Was Granzilla one of his as well?
XP2000 and the safety car resto project were also extremely cool.
The Bentley is also very cool. A few details on it I'd change but the overall concept is ace.
Rainbow Chaser was one of the definitive kustoms of its time and I bet a lot of people got into trad customs as a direct result of being inspired by that car.
Much of his other stuff falls into the category of "I wouldn't want that myself, but its been done well and somebody has to do this stuff"

Hi Guys.. It's Big P here, Andy's manager. Good to see the car is generating discussion already. It's not one of Andy's 'proper' creations.. it's the product of his latest TV show 'Juice My Lemon'.. This was the car created for the pilot show. As the title suggests, Andy and long suffering sidekick Jim Chalmers get 36 working hours to transform one of history's low hanging lemons.. into a peach.. While it's not meant to show Andy's finest car-sculpting - it focuses more on what can be achieved in three 12 hour days, Using only parts salvaged from scrap cars The show is currently is post production, ready to pitch to broadcasters later in the year. All being well you should be enjoying harder Ladas, Maxed Maxis and such like on your box in the summer All the best Big P

Check out more of his recent retro car chopping on www.pro-motiv.com . Check the 'for instance' page.. I'm sure Fiat intended the 126 to sit a little higher than that! PS Jettadeluxe.. LOVING your woodride!.. Makes me want to panel my 99!

It'll be good to potentially see somebody with Andy's integrity on TV again, after all he's what I consider to be a 'proper' car man. From resto to custom he's always produced thegoods and never tried to overtly cash in on it like some others.
As for his creations no matter what you think of the end product, they're always thought provoking and imaginative. It's what the UK scene needs, and lucky for us, gets from Mr Saunders. ;D

I'll second that.....BigP, keep us posted how you get on with post production, when the time comes a few emails to the likes of Men and Motors from us guys might help with you finding a TV network??
