Evening all,
I purchased this old beast after my Dad heard about it through a friend of a friend, I didn't expect it to be as good as it is, all I was told was its an old Audi thats been standing a while. Basically its been owned by a father and son in the same family since new and was stood up about a year and a half ago after being driven down from Scotland to Cambridge. Its totally original, even the Blaupunkt stereo which works perfectly. The rear seats don't look like they have ever been sat in and the whole of the interior is spotless. There is full Audi main dealer service history stamped in the book up to 103000 miles and the original PDI inspection sheet. Everything in the car works as it should.
When I bought it a few weeks ago it had been standing for about a year and a half, I trailered it home as it didn't start and the brakes and clutch were seized. These have all been rectified although the brakes are still slightly stiff but it needs using really. It had nearly a full tank of fuel in it which had gone manky but I wasn't about to drain a full tank so i've been progressively diluting it with fresh fuel. Fitting a new fuel filter, battery, cleaning out the metering head and spark plugs got the engine running. I drove it to the MOT and it went straight through with just one advisory! (pictured) It drives very nicely and feels very tight with no knocks or clunks at all. The bodywork is good and straight, very minor bubbling around the front wings but its hardly noticeable. There is a patch of paintwork on the RH rear qtr where the lacquer has lifted (pictured) but a wet flat and spray over with fresh lacquer should make it look better. The only other minor bad point is the boot struts are knackered but Mr Balfour kindly left his prop in the boot. It also comes with 4 spare wheels and tyres. Its had a new exhaust and new fuel tank filler neck fitted also.
This has got to be one of the most original Audi 100's around and is ready to be used, its got a personalised plate on it which i've been offered £600 for by regtransfers.co.uk. My plan was to sell the plate and then drop the Audi on the deck and rat it about but I have a new baby, i'm moving house at the end of the month and its far to good and original to modify. I think its worth the price without the plate, but the asking price includes it.
Sorry about the essay, I took the pictures as i've picked it up, I haven't been near it with a sponge or polishing cloth yet, it doesn't really need it!
Cheers for looking
