Here's my latest. I took the decision to move on from Fiestas and sold all my stuff and bought this with the proceeds, needs a wee bit of work on the inner wings and brakes need bleeding too. Otherwise it's pretty good. done less than 100 miles in the last 3 years, came with 10 months MOT, drive it 140 miles home (blind ebay buy ) and then 150 miles down to the gathering ( at well over the limit) a couple of days after and obviously back home. No problems at all so far. already bought some adjustable rate Koni suspension, 1.6 gti brake calipers, xs engine-1360 still but alloy and 20+kgs lighter and tonight I bought a set of control tyres to allow me to compete in the modified roadgoing class next year got some 175/60 Toyo CF1's tomorrow night I aim to fit the suspension and have a go at lowering the beam too

Get some penetrating oil on the torsion bars right now. And again in a few hours, ang again a few hours after, etc etc etc.
As I said at RRG, you've picked a goodun!

One in that sort of nick I'd be tempted to keep as standard as possible. Can't be many left in that condition.

Be prepared to overhaul the beam. If it's never been done then it is worth doing especially if you are planning to compete with it. Factor in around £300 for this.

Top purchase, looks to be a good one too. Thinking of selling my 205, but I'd have one of these in the future for sure. Looking forward to the progress to hill climber

Even if the beam looks fine, it probably isn't. Rebuild it now while it looks fine if you want my advice, if you start waiting for signs of camber or creaking you are at the point where you may lose the beam tube entirely.

Fantastic little car's these, would love another. Much quicker than you would expect, will go off the clock easy enough. If your ever tempted to swap the engine out, the 106 Gti engine drops in and can run low 14's/high 13's.

Been there, recommend that (in a 106 rallye. 14s are doable, 13s really aren't in either without $£$£$£$£$) but regulations don't allow it which is a shame.

as Dave says, to compete in the roadgoing class I need to use a 205 engine, anything else would put me in the anything goes class. Well last night I had a do at the suspension, managed to pop the driveshaft out and spill gearbox oil on the garage floor, nice. got one side done after the cleanup, will do the other tomorrow night and hopefully move onto the back end straight away. in other enws, i'm now getting 186/60/13s instead of 175s as Toyo only have 2 left and don't know when they will make more. Getting them for the same price though and this was sorted before 9.15 this morning, ears motorsport giving excellent service so far

Made a start on lowering, one side done with the other side causing trouble. passenger first, thought i'd check the height and see how low it wil eventually be. old vs new, not much lower but stiffer and better and my lovely clean arch - all look like this Sadly I have no gearbox oil, and I'll be having a go with the stud extractors tonight on that brake caliper, sheared bleed nipple Got my tyres yesterday day, aiming to have this on it's wheels with the new tyres fitted by Sunday, if only the family would stop getting in the way ;D

I've had a couple of 205's and my favorite had the 1360 engine in

the euro rallye had a tuned 1300 on twin carbs and had around 100bhp and an alloy block. the uk rallye had an iron block 1360 on a single carb with around 75bhp, pitiful.
even the XS and roland garros (don't modify them, EVER!!!) had 85bhp with an alloy block 1360. this is what I have bought, should be able to get 100bhp fairly easy with some 40's, exhaust, cam and possibly some headwork.
next winters job though I think, this winter is tidying up, making sure it's reliable and buying the safety gear so I can race next year.

back on it's wheels although brakes aren't bled. I've ended up fitti.g 1,6 gti calipers and vented discs old calipers had snapped off nipples and well stuck.in there, easiest option was to fit these calipers. ordered discs and pads from eurocarparts Saturday evening(pagid too) and they tried to deliver Monday, super service from all these new suppliers which is nice. so with the new suspension freshly fitted and the springs far from settled this is the ride height.

if you want something more modern than the xs engine, find yourself a series 2 106 rallye lump, 1380cc and 105bhp out of the box. Good buy you have there mate very tidy rallye. Now you need a pair of 309 driveshafts, tca's and roll bar for muucho wide track and lots of grippy cornering from the front end, but don't touch the 309 rear axles, I need them all ha ha

all in good time, as discussed above the engine needs to be from a 205 to meet the regulations.
suspension will go 205 gti eventually, next purchase will hopefully be a rebuilt gti rear beam. would like a 309 gti beam though, do they take much extra work to fit?
