was just pulling away from my house in the mazda and this came on the radio: I tells ya, for the next 3 and a half minutes my car became an F15! it was like I was living in the 80s. all I needed was a pair of aviator sunglasses (soon to be ordered by the way!) and I probably would have responded to the name maverick if someone yelled it. I was that deep into the illusion.... time to buzz the pensioner! vroom! anyone else have a moment in their car that embodied the era it was around? or the image the car had?

Had one very similar a couple of years ago. I had agreed to sell a mint 25,000 miles 1979 Capri 1.6 LS (owned by the proverbial old boy since new) for a woman I knew, and I got in it to drive it back to my place, turned on the original push button radio and it was Elvis Costello- Watching the Detectives, which I`m pretty sure came out in 1979. The car was blood red with, strangely in a Capri, Red and white interior trim with chrome inserts (a lot classier than the grey affair in mine) so to be honest it was more like something off Christine than anything, I thought it was gonna lock me into itself and start glowing! (well, no, I didnt at all actually, but it was a nice moment).

To complete the 80's tasticness, you would need a linen suit with the sleeves rolled up!!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

To complete the 80's tasticness, you would need a linen suit with the sleeves rolled up!! and a phone the size of a jerry can! although I think tom cruise maverick is my role model untill someone new and equally cheesy comes along! although you have to say to yourself: sure the top gun blokes were macho, but they're were a little.......TOO macho.....

Aerial's broken on mine.....so it's a non-stop diet of 70's/90's Punk, 60's Garage Rock and early 90's grunge on CD compilations....though at 42 I really should be listening to Radio 2 and Saga FM :-(

Took an Imp for Mot, the only station I could get on the Pye push-button was playing Nancy Sinatra, these boots were made for walking, followed by Whiter shade of pale! Total 60's buzz, then the car boiled at a set of lights, stalled and wouldn't restart...... also very 60's, but not so good.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

And shamefully I enjoyed SAGA last week its not bad if you forget its for over 50's!

"The best of the 60s, 70s and more!" The aerial is broken on the Charmant so I hummed Eye of the Tiger on the way back, does that count?
