Hi, this is my Mk1 Mazda 323 fa4 which started life as a little 1.3l, i have now fitted a CA18DET engine from a nissan s13 200sx, welded the diff, stripped the interior and fitted a smaller momo steering wheel and reclining bucket seats. it has an ally fuel cell and swirl pot, straight through exhaust and short shift and the boost wound up to 1bar so its lively to say the least. Next on the list is to sort the suspension, hubs, brakes and fit a cage to add some more weight over the back end. Keep scrolling for the E30 turbo This is another project which i have just finished, its a 2.5 E30 tourer which i turbo'd. Started off with the stock engine and had to source parts off various cars to start the build. These included M50 throttle position sensor and Vauxhall Omega V6 coil pack as i needed to convert from a dizzy to wasted spark to run megasquirt ECU. it has a log type manifold, external wastegate with screamer pipe, adjustable fpr, fmic, and a nice t3/4 turbo and welded diff. there is a few other bits i've missed but only minor things. if you are thinking of doing a cheap conversion then i would definitely recommend this as the power gains are really good. a standard engine produced 170bhp and this made 247bhp on 3psi. shortly after doing this it did die as there is a breather under the inlet manifold which i didn't know went straight into the sump thus killing the head gasket whilst doing the rebuild i fitted a 2.6mm decompression plate and 2 head gaskets and also a 6 puck clutch. the boost is now at about 10psi and around 320bhp Check my little video after the rebuild ^^^ not the best quality but you get the idea. Hope you all like but happy to take criticism. Thanks for looking, Pete

Lotta love for the 323. If you get bored of the boinger in it slap a rotor in there - it's only right. ;D

Welcome nice to see a new user who is more interested in performance than stance. BUT... Both those cars deserve far more pictures and a much better explanation! Get a thread set up in the Reader's Rides section

Thanks, both these cars are still a work in progress at the moment. i didn't want to bore everyone with a load of tech jargon but if you think its worth it then i will do. Don't have any more pics at the moment as i work away from home but will take more when i get back. i've always had oldskool street sleepers because thats just how i roll

One day I will build an old skool 323 or Corolla with a rotor in it. You may be noticing a theme lol. Well I'd be interested in seeing the bare bones of it for sure.

i don't think i have any more pics of the build but will keep updating when i do the suspension, hubs brakes and cage. i may even change from an english axle to a more conventional setup but not sure yet. i love the car as theres not another like it, or if there is then they're few and far between and i haven't seen them.

Don't think I've seen one with a CA in it before. Did it fit in without much dramas? Looks fun!
(I've got a 5 door wagon the same model as this)

pretty easy tbf, engine mounts were simple. had to get a propshaft made to match which cost me £80 and the wiring loom was a doddle. don't suppose you have found anywhere to get uprated suspension parts from have you? my option is to use shortened sierra bottom arms, hubs and coilovers i think... at the moment its pretty dangerous as it spins up in 4th in the dry when trying to go in a straight line and the suspension is far too soft and the brakes are the size of cd's!!

I've just got -30mm springs on mine, and it's leaves at the back. I've got Nolathene poly bushes too. Over here the most common upgrade is mating RX7 struts to 323 top hats. Coil overs are very rarely used on old Mazdas, and I'm really not sure why

I think i will try using ford parts as it was originally built by ford and has ford offset hubs so i don't need new rims when i change the hubs over, parts are cheap enough here

it's so long since I saw one of those, I had to scroll down to remind myself what a '79 323 looks like. Nice to see something new being done.

Slight hijack and feel free to remove, but I have an early (S plate) FA4 that will go for scrap in October. All the wheels/suspension/rear mechanicals/tank are gone and it has a big hole cut in the rear (original plan was to shove an mx5 floor under it, but then I moved to Germany). Otherwise pretty much complete, including a happy 1.3 and autobox. Bonnet and tailgate are good, lights etc good, had an NOS front valence, early chrome bumpers are reasonable I think. Also got NOS wing and a couple of sills in a box. I will be back in my barn near Norwich middle of Oct for a couple of days, so we can arrange something for then. Not really interested in selling the odd bit here or there, just want it gone. £150 for 'complete' car and parts or £100 to pop over for a day to remove and take all you want and I will weigh in the shell.
