from being bullied at school by spides and grungers. thus i needed to prove myself thus bought most unlikely car ever to get modified in 'current' trends (sorry) then through Retro Cars, SOC forum (old days) and my own taste awareness i changed from tacky to period mods and still need to prove myself to everyone
sidelines: parents ran classic car magazine for 4 years ran classic car resto business owned varied range of oddball cars (many super-retros now!) tolerated me getting too many cars
and the general crapness of every new car ever (SLIGHT exaggeration lol)
and my annoyance that only golf gti's and ford escorts are worth spending over £2k for a 20yr old car. how they are better than other cars that don't have the big name is beyond me.

you lot inspire and drive me, its not the skills, it's not the cars, its more the passion that we all share as a collective that makes me go and twiddle spanners Also a few of the VW Drag Racing guys and gals , I'm sure you know who you are I'd never have began to tackle the van if I hadn't seen what people can do on here and watched people learn, knowing I can learn myself.. its a shame my health took such a bad turn last year, I was doing really well with it then it all just "stopped" and I've barely looked at it since... although I have been busy gathering parts I assure you I'm on the mend and the van will live Then there's those who believe in me, special mention to my lady and my Bro Drew who have both been certain of my ability even when I'm not I think one of the great things about this place is we inspire each other

my dad has been ino cars since he was very small, he tried to get my older bro involed with em but he failed, he then tried to get me into em, i showed a bit more interest but not enough, so my dad took an interest in football so he had something to talk to us about. Then i passed my driving test when i was 19 and got a mk1 clio, it sat on my drive for a year whilst i went out every nite to the pub, thus leaving very little funds for srting the clio out. My gf eventually made me fix the clio cos she was fed up with driving everywhere. i inlisted the help of my dad and got it on the road. Around this time i gota copy of mini world magazine (after always having a soft spot for mini and always intending to own one from the age of 14) join a mini forum, started buying Mini Mag aswell, learnt lots very quickly. xmas last year i was given 500 quid inheritance, added that to my birthday money and on the 15th of january 2006 i became the proud owner of a 1994 mini sprite with 63000 miles on it, i then swapped my clio for someone to fit a new rad to the mini and away i went. for somereason i seem to be interested in everything with wheels on now. its a slippery slope i tell ya hahah
