Not suitable for Reader's Rides, as we don't own it anymore.
Back in 1986 my Dad got the itch to go circuit racing, and eventually after a long search for something suitable, he found a very cheap '64 Volvo Amazon.
It was a B16, left hand drive and brought over from Germany by a Squaddie (hence the S-Reg), and needed a bit of TLC.
Seeing as I was only 2 at the time, I don't remember a lot of it, but luckly, my Dad snapped some pics of when we first got it, and when it was finished.
It got finished (in a rather lush shade of grey primer) for the start of 1987, and had a couple of outings, but nothing special. it was stock apart from the cage and bucket seats! In '88 it got a P1800 gearbox and back axle to help the acceleration, and dome Spax dampers, and in '89 he put a B20 in, but when he got called up to the Gulf war, it was laid up and sloly rusted away.....
Throughout this time , it was a daily driver too, doing about 60 miles a day! I remember him saying that all our neighbours hated it, as he would leave for work at 5am, and the racing exhaust would wake everyone up! .
Anyway, on with the pics (scanned from out photo album):
First pics, top is the day we bought it (note my uncle's Pinto'd Magnum (eventually turned into a grasstracker) and my Grandad's 6 month old Alpine in background. Also, my Mum's Allegro too).
Bottom of the Mountain, Cadwell Park:
