For sale is my Volvo V40 2.0 Automatic.
I bought this in February is this year having just had a baby and about to move house I felt I needed something spacious reliable and comfortable. It fit the bill perfectly. It was a godsend moving house, saving us a fortune in van hire costs and it’s safe and comfortable for carrying our baby.
Tax expires 31/11/12
MOT Expires July 2013
Now we’ve moved house I don’t need something as big and I prefer smaller cars so its time to find it a new home. I’ve already sourced a new car so just a cash sale please.
Exterior
The outside of the car is in good condition for its age, whilst labeled as black, I think the colour is actually a very dark blue, which still looks good when polished. There is a small dent in the bonnet next to the grill which was there when I got the car, one of the headlight wiper arms is missing and there’s a light scratch on the bonnet which will likely polish out, but it has never bothered me and I haven’t really had the time to address it to be honest. For its last MOT, it required a patch welding on the passenger side sill at the front of the door, the plastic sill cover does a sterling job of hiding this repair so you wouldn’t know it was there unless looking for it. The arches are in good condition for the age, and there is a small amount of corrosion at the filler neck, but it seems to be surface only. There is a tow bar fitted with twin electrics, I haven’t used this but I don’t doubt it would work, the car would make an excellent tow car as it pulls effortlessly is normal driving. The private number plate will be staying on the car, its valued at £750 and currently for sale on regtransfers.co.uk. From this sale, the seller would receive £450 after the websites commission etc. I recently put this up for sale as I wasn’t bothered about the plate and would rather have the £450! The plate can be removed from sale at any time if you would like to keep it.
Interior
The interior of the car is spacious and comfortable. 99% of electric switches all work with the exception of the front windows on the main centre switch bank. All the windows work at the doors though. The heated seats work nicely and the air con still blows nice and cold (not that we’ve had much call for using it!). There is a 6 CD multichanger which works nicely, along with the tape player and radio. There is some wear on the drivers seat bolster and some scuffs in the back. The boot has a plastic liner which has protected the boot carpet nicely. The load cover still works and the spare wheel/tool kit are complete – there is even a set of overalls and a hi viz vest should you require. The dial display includes a digital petrol gauge with the optional digital display for MPG, average speed, range, oil temp, engine temp, exterior temp. The car comes with 1 key and key fob which controls the remote central locking and CAT 1 alarm. (Factory fitted).
Engine and Running Gear
The engine works, the car has always started first time everytime and never let me down. There is an almost complete service history that comes with the car showing it has been serviced regularly and well looked after. I believe the car spent some time in Germany being owned by a member of the armed forces, so a lot of the miles are travelling back and forth. The gearbox works well and changes gear quietly without any knocks or bangs. It has a winter mode (which I haven’t tested in snow) and sport mode which changes down quicker and raises the rev limit. For the MOT it required new anti roll bar drop links at the front which were replaced and prior to that, I had the brake pipes replaced due to corrosion. The car doesn’t have any leaks/drips and holds temperature well with the fan kicking in as it should. As above there is a digital display for both engine and oil temperatures. The car is relatively good on petrol depending on your route, its currently showing 24.8mpg, however, my daily commute is down a main high st in stop/start traffic so not much chance to build up a decent figure. The car has Cruise Control which works well and on the rare occasion I’ve had to use it, makes driving a doddle.
All in all I’ve found this to be a reliable, comfortable and honest car which has served its purpose brilliantly and I have no doubt it will serve its next owner equally as well. Any test drives are welcomed and recommended and I would say that if you’re unsure, come and view the car.
Any questions, please ask.
Thanks for looking!
