hi all.
recently had my car rolling roaded and one of the things my tuner suggested was a phenolic type spacer between my head and inlet manifold to reduce heat soak and intake temps.
the alloy inlet manifold was very hot to the touch (almost too hot to touch!) when the car had been run hard for a bit.
looked around at some alternative options as it seems the 'proper' phenolic material is pretty expensive and hard to cut/finish.
some seem to suggest teflon - maybe a good quality chopping board?
some also suggested wood?? funnily enough, I guess this would be ideal as its easy to machine/finish, cheap, and I can get hold of it easily!
anyone got any experience? what wood would work best? or what other matierials would work?
many thanks.
