What do i do?
What do you do with a car which despite much care and attention and a huge emotional attachment you can't get driving just as it should?
My head tells me to let the car go, but I know I'll regret it the minute it goes up the road and think f@ck it, should have kept it even if it does sit in a barn for the next 20 years.
If it were to be another 10-15 years I would still open the door and think this is cool, takes me back, (that would be 25-30years) or am I just being a sad tosser?

One car is very much like another, so if you have a certain sentimental attachment to it, I say keep it and persevere.
I have only one such vehicle, all the rest I'd quite happily sell tommorow, but just seeing it in the garage reminds me of so much more than the mere 'ownership' of it... ;D

Keep it, you'll only regret it as soon as you sell it.
What is it anyway?

must admit I keep everything! Currently on 6 motors and searching for a large barn! ;D Keep it if you've got the place for it - it can always go later if you're strapped or need the room.......... ( as if that ever happens! ) EDIT* ^^^^ good point - what is it?*

whats the car, whats the problem?
I had a couple of cars "I could never sell". I only regret selling one of them. I have another "I could never sell" I'm just waiting for the guy to get back to me with the cash and arrange a collection date.
Nostalgia is all very well but cars you never drive or can't afford to fix hanging around just get you down after a while.

I'm in a similar situation. I can't afford to fix my Benz, I'm about to lose my storage and I need to somehow transport it 300 miles north in the new year. But I could never sell it, even though the fecking thing has caused me so much grief over the past year, and hasn't driven anywhere since August. Sorry, that's not much help really, but I can empathise! Don't sell it.

Personally I think if it's rusty or needs welding and is a pain in the neck, dump it.
A car is for enjoying. If you're not enjoying it move on. You can sell it to someone who enjoys welding, rust removal, etc.
I love seeing great restoration work and it's wonderful that people bring old cars back from the dead. However I will only buy and own cars that are solid and reliable. Because I don't like coping with difficult problems.
Having said that, my Nissan 200SX's SR20DET engine is proving to be a right pain in the neck to fix!

You`ll probably find that, according to sods law, once you relax and stop worrying about it a solution will present itself. When my Mazda was smashed in a motorway pile up the concensus was that it had fought its last battle, I was just glad to have survived but I would have felt a bit churlish scrapping the car that probably contributed a lot towards saving my life. So I just left it in a corner and felt f**cking lucky every time I looked at it. 3 months later a chance encounter with an accident damage specialist followed by the discovery that the chassis wasnt bent led to it eventually being rebuilt rather cost effectively, so just sit on it for a while if you`re getting frustrated with it, you just never konw what`ll turn up.
