I need a French black and silver plate pressing - I've seen them on Citroens in the UK in the correct font/spacing but I can't find anywhere that does them. Any of the 2CV guys know, or know where I can ask? Here's a nice photo of a 2CV for added retro content and to illustrate what I mean

You'd be best getting in coms' with a compay in France. DVLA have made it impossibul to get stamped numberplates or even letters for my 1100 (1973) Most english firms don't want to no

All the people I know who've got them have bought them when in France.
Like funny fonts, they are technically illegal. Some folk fit UK plates for the MOT...

I had french style plates on my old '81 2cv, Got my folks to get 'em made up when they day tripped over. They had 'em done in one of those hypermarket affairs.... Mine were coloured though, yellow rear, white front with black letters. They spaced it out the same as the english plates too. Not sure the traditional silver/white on black plates are still readily available. Nick Thompson - the guy that runs Sussex 2CV used to make them up, but that was perhaps 10-12 years ago. They retailed at 15 quid a pair IIRC. Click the link & scroll to the bottom for his contact number: www.brighton.co.uk/commune/2cv.htm

Whilst we're on the subject of furrin' plates, I've seen Kraut plates and Frog plates advertised, but does anyone know where I can get Italian plates made? - I want a set for my 75 when JonCedric has finished with it.

Mr Dolby, surely with a resident lady friend in France, get her to source them? The big hypermarket on the edge of Le Mans nearest the circuit did them back in June, 'cos we bought some... I think it cost about 20euros for a pair and the guy was quite happy to space them as we instructed. Job jobbed. ;D

It's getting ones that aren't reflective en France that's the problem. I don't want them, or UK black and silver ones as the font is wrong. These aren't for street use so I don't give a fig about the DVLA. Having said that, I don't anyway I've rung Nick but got an answerphone so I've left a message.
