I've driven a white one with the non-turbo engine and I've seen non-turbo ones in dark blue, too.

Well, there's a coincidence. On top of a pile of brochures kindly given to me by Baz I have a Performance Car reprint issued by Mazda for a white 924 (924 DLC) vs RX7 (C67 DKR). The RX7 won, obviously, or I suppose Mazda wouldn't have reprinted it.
Goaferboy, if you like I can have sift through and send any RX7 brochure type stuff for the cost of postage?

Those 924's sound better than I previously thought, I'd want the Mazda most I reckon but never say never.
Does that buzz get annoying?!
Anyway, off to check ceefax page 263

These old TG's appear quite stiff, but they are informative, and quite educational too i suppose.

I thought it was nothing short of boring myself. It is possible to do informative and entertaining at the same time. Fred Dibnah was a genius at it. Richard Hammond can be good when he's not doing his scripted larking with Jezza. The car-in-water escape and Renault Megane crash spring to mind here.

Does that buzz get annoying?! I wouldnt know. I don't let it get that far! the bit where its looking at the rev counter and it buzzes at about 5k is wrong. it doesnt come on untill just before the redline (bout 7k if I remember right). if you look at the clocks other times the buzzer goes off, it comes on at the right time. I'm glad they let it go off in the clip. now I know what it sounds like! iv always been curious Well, there's a coincidence. Did you watch the 1991 episode that was posted the other day (its on Google Video). I agree it was a little "stiff" but the facts were in there... I miss the informative nature of some TV programs, that's all.... I like the new format TG, I just watch it sometimes and realise I've learned nothing from it... and I miss that. It's why I don't watch TV a lot anymore, and tend to read the web forums more with peoples build ups etc. I find that MUCH more interesting... If they kept it entertaining but informed you more... I'm sure I'd watch a lot more TV... But to be be honest I'd rather spend half hour knowing something is gonna come of something, than watching half hour of telly just incase something happens

I didn't know those RX7's had four wheel steering. Cool!
I agree, listening to that presenter was like eating soggy cardboard! It reminded me of one of those corporate videos on how to lift boxes safely in the office or summat. I don't like the present TG policy of "we don't lift bonnets", but I wish they'd find a happy medium between informative journalism and interesting presenting styles.

I know what you mean CC, I rarely switch on the TV on purpose yeah TG is entertaining, just like PMR is, but more having a laugh than the old watch n learn, the only programmes I learn off REALLY are the head surgery, and hospital progs the GF makes me watch, bloody interesting. Thats why I like mags and the net, informamion wher you want it and when, since Video is my bag though, i'll have to try translate my likes over to tape somehow... I did not know REX's were 4WS either!

yeah I think the rear wheels/axle/whatever just "bend" when cornering. I don't think they're directly controlled by the steering wheel.
"Though Mazda had considered active four wheel steering after testing the concept, Kijima proposed an arrangement that would allow a small degree of rear steer to be created by the rear suspension as it reacted to cornering loads."

I remember reading something about the 4WS system on the Mazda 626 (late '80s one). I think that used hydraulic rams to push and pull the suspension slightly in and out against the bushes. Clever system.

The Citroen ZX had passive rear wheel steering apparently which is probably along the same lines as the RX7. Honda and Mitsubishi had proper 4WS cars as well though.
Totally off topic, for entertaining and fun, The Gadget Show takes some beating on Channel 5. Or maybe I've just got the hots for Ms Perry...
