was reading the new member thread, and being a fairly new member it inspired me to let you all know how the dolomite is coming on! About a month ago i wrote a post saying how the car let me down and it pee'd me off somewhat...... well good news i took it all apart and spent the last month stripping the engine and buying lots of shiny new bits ;D progress so far...... old one out... strip down got along way to go still but its getting there.. mostly new parts and a newly painted block, cant wait to drive her again!!! new block Cheers Ryan

Good work! Make sure it's all put back together nicely with plenty of lube and all done up nicely......can't be doing with it failing on you again! Be back on the 15th so will drop in the with '8 Oh, I know it's random - if you could keep a piston and a rod for me (complete assembly with wrist pin), if you've got any going spare, that'd be appreciated.....need one for a random project and all mine are, well, intact and in engines ;D If you find you're missing any little odd bits or anything shout as I'm sure our spares bin harbours what you might need as we've got that complete powertrain lying about.

nice one- i'm jealous!
another product i've been recommended as build lube is "STP Oil Treatment" you get about half a litre for a 5er. I already bought some torco but i'm told this stuff is just as good and easier to apply cos its a bit thicker.
any comments on that?

That goes in with the oil in your sump though This stuff? I bought some on the recommendation of Blownimp but didn't put it in the 1500, ran out of time - so I'll be putting it in the RV8 instead (should help in that

Pretty certain it was you! Maybe not. All I remember was :
"me & our dad use it in all our engines, when I took the Chevette (?) apart all the main bearing surfaces were perfict"
Or something along those lines ;D
