Haha - that's some proper man logic! Take out a perfectly good, reliable, modern, economical, light, small and reasonably powerful engine, then replace it with an Essex V6!
...just noticed it has the autobox too. Mad.
Pictures removed now OP has some up

If the image has an https address (as those ones did) just remove the s on the end to give http Facebook pics are the same. Keep us updated, it might be a bit better with a manual box. 3 speed at the moment then?

if the work is done for the essex lump, will the 24v cosworth lump drop in now?...

^^ Now that really would be something! 200bhp with torque to match It's based on the Cologne though, I assume it's different to the Essex?

Another MX-5 fan doing some modding of his own.. I was let loose on the grinder again today.Alternator sat too high in the bonnet (damn thing is the size of a house) so we chopped the bracket to move it out of the way a touch.. Done.. Random bits cleaned and painted.. More angle grinding by me as my friend got on with wiring, gearbox mount and various other pipe running duties. We decided to cut the manifolds to fit some flexi pipe.. /Mike Reid "Make it round.......NOW" Done. Gearbox about to have support removed.. Lining up engine mounts was proving tricky, so I used an old BMW jack as a micro adjuster.. Break time.Baz may be able to fit engines, but he can't control the flow of red sauce.. Mystery rad fitted and oil cooler just in front. Look, I have all these bits left over! Getting stuck in (after waiting for the rain to stop) More health & safety inspired tweaking.. Air intake test on top of the engine.. Notice the sponge on the front? That's there due to us using my Hijet to push it up the slope to get it back in the garage :hehe:

Hmm, each to their own! I can understand the reasoning behind having a V6 rumble though.
Are you going to enjoy your braille windscreen also?! :-0

I was expecting a GM or Alfa unit... impressive bait-and-switch there! Utterly bonkers choice of engine for it.

Sorry to get your hopes up It really was a case of it costing next to nothing and having a bit of a laugh! He's already talking of a 3.1 unit from another friend!

A Ferrari 308 with no engine?
Offend the purists. Put in a Lexus V8 and have a Ferrari V8 you really can drive every day.
