Ok, here's the "finally home" pics... Just finding all the niggles now tbh, so far I've found: Rot under the battery tray - -so my foot get wet in the rain Front speakers don't work Horn sounds like a dieing camel Headlights are quite dull Front Brakes need new disc's and pads Other than that, for a 1.0, its a flyer! Well, considering the last 1.0 car I had was a 1988 mini! lol

I'm on my11th or 12th Polo now - just some small tips Rot under the battery tray - -so my foot get wet in the rain - they all do this! Mk1 panels are available to weld in, but they need work to fit. Front speakers don't work - the orignal cones are paper and moisture kills them. Cheap modern upgrades from a mk2 golf are about £20 a pair (they are the same original part number golf and polo) Horn sounds like a dieing camel - I've fitted 108dB air horns on mine! Headlights are quite dull - upgrade looms are the best fix along with a pair of 100/90W bulbs (switched relay looms on ebay for £38) or build one your self out of a couple of switched fused 4 point relays) Front Brakes need new disc's and pads - original ones come with VWI calipers. If you upgrade these to VW II calipers you can retro fit 239mm vented discs and MK1 Golf GTi pads. The master cylinder can be upgraded to a 22mm one (one of the ports needs blanked off) but they do make a massive difference to the brakes! Hope they all help! Happy poloing!

Thanks for the reply!
I've already got some speakers, theyve been sat in the shed for ages, was going to get rid of them, but they happen to be right for the polo. I'm going to make my own plate for the battery tray, and make some form of drain on it too.
I'm finding the brakes ok to be honest, even of the one side is only actually braking with 1/2" of pad surface lol.

I also fitted my new grille.... Also G3'd my bonnet... Before: During: Last little bit to do: Although there is an improvement, its starting to go through the paint slowly, so I'm not going to polish the original paint, so it's going to get roller painted next year, what colour I'm not sure, but prob Red-Oxide, or Zinc oxide (white)

Today's adventure was to see if you can polish a turd.... It would seem you can, but it looks like the paints too far gone :-( (This is the same part of the roof) The paint is rather Thin now, so will be painting! I've found a supplier that can do me some new paint for the polo.... problem I have is I have a choice of colours, and a choice of Satin or Gloss.... The way I see it, I can paint the satin on, with minimum effort other than a rub down to key it, or I can go gloss and have to flat it back all the time? But anyways, 5 litres for £40! Thinking maybe a slate blue with white and red wheels, or maybe just white wheels, and maybe a red roof? Also by xmas, I need a new exhaust, so going to be making my own, so enlarging it to 1.3/4" ID to unleash any potential horsepower and torque, with that, I'm also going to fit a AAV 1.3 throttle body and injector, with a 1.3 manifold. Not looking for mega horses, just a little more to free the engine up a bit, and help it not sound so wibblepoo lol.

Considering this was going to be a "cheap" run about...
I now have:
1.3 AAV throttle body and manifold GT camshaft GT full exhaust system (cat back) 60mm lowering spring Set of P-slots And some VWII calipers and vented discs.
Should go a bit more spiritely now!
