silver one - i could get it into the single figures, but averaged at around 15-20 tops (twin carbs, 1600 xflow) beige one - never qualced figures, but a trip to london and back with a bit of driving round the centre cost me £25 - thats around £250 miles - 60mph all the way there and back its a bit worse now ive got the roofrack and 175/50's but its still a damn sight better than the silver one ;D

How funny, I was thinking about starting a thread on this after a trip down to essex at the weekend: Total of 330 miles, cost £30 in fuel!!!!! Thats in the Mk3 Escort with a 1.6 CVH. I was picking up some wheels too so the return leg was laden, not light wheels either, Suzuki Vitara fatboy with 265/50/15 tyres! (don't ask). Also had one passenger so could definately have done more. Don't know what that work out at for MPG (how do you work it out again?) but it seems pretty good to me.

Don't know what that work out at for MPG (how do you work it out again?) but it seems pretty good to me. Assuming 4.45L = 1 Gal and price per Litre of 95 RON is £0.80 Miles covered divided by cost of fuel x price for a litre x Litres in a gallon 330 / 30 x £0.80 x 4.45 = 39.16 mpg Miles covered divided by Litres of fuel times by litres to the gallon 330 / 37.5 x 4.45 = 39.16 mpg

My Golf is overfuelling a tad. 173 miles to 45 litres.....its only a 1.6 driver on a carb.

As for economical driving, the SAAB gets abused, as it is company sponsored fuel, and I drive it like it's stolen. On one run, I got from Calais to Epinal (around 370miles) in less than 4 hours, and still got over 40mpg!
Can't complain at that.

I have just worked out that the Sherpa is averaging around 14mpg. 2.0 O series, and it's always driven 'with purpose'. ;D Most of those miles were cruising, too. It must have been well down into single figures the rest of the time to bring the average down.

I think I just worked out that the Homy is doing 7mpg, which for a 2.7 diesel is pretty depressing.
I'll convince myself I worked it out incorrectly until I fill up again and double check...

£20 = 25 litres, normally get about 60-70miles from that
Onboard Computer thingy tells me at the moment, around 11-12mpg (most of my time at the moment spent in traffic, although can't go far over here even without traffic - best in the BM has been average of 17mpg)

We do use some fuel alright! I drive to conserve when i'm cruising in traffic etc, when the streets are empty its fun time! Street, That MPG pound pretty fair, My old (xflow) XR2 was not as economic as a 1litre etc but much better than the 360 volvo which did approx 20ish MPG, I suppose the XR2 did about 27-30 driven however, usually with passion.

Current motor, the lovely Mondeo, is getting a shocking 120 miles from £20 (which is, what, 23 litres these days?). Which is about 5 gallons, so 23mpg or summat. That's because pretty much everything under the bonnet which would cause it to run badly (cat, exhaust, AFM, plug leads etc) is knackered. It'll need sorting soon as it's MoT time and I dare say the emissions are sky high.
Previously I've run a Golf 1.6 Driver (33mpg average), a Polo G40 (used to bank on 30mpg sensible, could get it to low teens if i 'tried'), Scirocco injection (38mpg, seen 40's occasionally!) and a Audi 90Q 20v.... 14mpg average. Oxygen sensor was knackered and it overfueled like a curse word. Bit of right foot action would see 20 quids worth disappear in about 70 miles!

I'm getting around 25/26MPG out of the 306, but tell the missus & my mum it does 40ish to save the ear ache. Starlet's around 20MPG If driven normally, but have had it down to 15 MPG on a tank-not great from a 1.3 is it?!

I get 65mpg in normal driving, 60ish if I cane it, 75 if I drive for 500+ miles at a steady 50mph.
The car? A 2001 VW Polo with the 3 cylinder 1.4 litre turbo diesel. Does about 500 miles on a tank, about 35 quid's worth of diesel.
