of your daily driver? do you even measure it?
I am a bit of an MPG dweeb, i love working it out. Not cos I am a petrol tightwad, (if I was i wouldn't be driving my audi) but cos its handy indicator of car health, driving technique, etc etc.
I just calculated 29.7 mpg from the last tankful used in the Audi. Not bad for a 21 year old 2.2 petrol turbo on shonky K-jetronic. I suspect on motorways its really good as the throttle is barely open due to high gearing and lots of torque.
Whats yours like? an e-lollipop for the thirstiest and stingiest.

just brimming the tank and zeroing the mileometer, then calculate it at the next refill. can't really do it accurately over less than a tankful I think.

I'll have to see if there is a way it can be calculated from one "blip" on the electronic petrol meter on the Smart... I'm hazarding a guess at quite-a-lot-of-MPG though as my communte to and from work and any evening travel costs all in £10 a week..

I know I stick 30quid of petrol in, and that only just gets me the 130miles from herts to bournemouth.
Which is depressing.
May i add this is on an engine with no cam lobe, over compensating followers and i suspect shonky valves/springs.
So I'm thinking the Stage 3 head will be just as/ more frugal that the standard item.
WIN!

Average in our Focus when I drive it is 51mpg. Which I find thouroughly agreeable. A typical 'work' journey for me in it involves 40 miles of empty motorway, followed by 10 miles of night=time London traffic (not too bad!) each way.
Doing the same journey in the BMW, the best I have managed was 33mpg. The worst is about 22, even with some serious accelerator mashing. Overall I reckon that 30mpg is the figure to aim for in this car. The dashboard 'swingometer' means you can do some good 'guestimating', based on how much of the time it is at 12 mpg (harsh accelerating) and 35-40 (80mph cruising)
I don't even want to countenance what my land rovers do. Less than 20mpg on a good day.
Oh and if you want shameful fuel use, I think arch-dolly-twiddler and current sick-boy Russell will own most folk - we calculated his old black Range Rover did about 5mpg.

No idea, i've never checked on ANY of my cars..... Bug was better after i put the twin webers on.... I've never liked filling tanks, as its SOOO much money to spend at once - and it slows the car down.....

2CV - best 54mpg, usually between 40 and 45mpg. Rover V8 I use to have - 20mpg average but once managed 26! Audi 100 2 ltr 5cyl - low 30s
My driving is mainly on fast roads with very little traffic so my average speed is always nice and high. Used to average over 40mph on my 25 mile drive to Stratford for work which I loved! Fantastic roads.

Some of my previous calcs: 1850HL auto: Average : 28.8mpg (mostly around town/mixed) On a run : 40.3mpg (I be not kidding, loves to cruise, this was over 500 miles) Standard Sprint : Average : 26.4mpg (bit shoddy, this one) Tuned Sprint (aka the 1500): Average : 13.6mpg ........Well, I went through a tank in just under 200 miles....mostly what stuff and lots of senseless ragging and revving, getting it bedded in. Had a small fuel leak too, probably didn't help V8 Sprint : Well, on the way back from Bristol it covered 122 miles on a quarter of a tank - The tank being 14.80 gallons. 14.8/4 = 3.7 gallons. 122/3.7 = 32.9mpgOf course, that being a gauge reading may not give the actual quantity of fuel consumed - but still, it's not far off what I expected. That'll do ;D

Fabia vRS (cheating slightly) averages 57/58MPG 1991 8v GTI Golf - 37MPG 1965 VW Microbus 2.4 engine is now averaging 29MPG on a run... at its thirstiest we were seeing 14mpg, but now the engine is run in. Best I got was 87.4 indicated on the computer of the Fabia on the M1 and worst was 8MPG in the 90 Quattro 20v.

A mate of mine has a Honda Insight, he reckons 75mpg is a 'poor result' for that car. Great stuff.

Depending upon my mood,
My Daily coupe is about 36-38 MPG Guage is not DIGI (looks like a boost guage) So cannot safetly get a pic.
Weekender (MGB) about 14MPG (Mainly becuase I rag it everywhere) was my last calculation. Standard the car only does about 25MPG anyhow.
Used the MG once or twice as a daily, when I get bored of modern motoring (even though the coupe is imense fun) and it cost a fair bit but well worth it for the noise and the nice cruise.

Herald: On the original 1147 engine it used to fall around the high thirties. On the newer, bigger 1492 engine it was down at high twenties until I sorted it fully (carb re-build etc) and now easily does over 40 on a decent run. So average now is back where it was but with more powaaaar. Oxford: On original 1622, single 1 1/4" SU best I ever got was 32.5 or so. Averaged around 28ish. On newer, bigger 1798 with twin 1 1/2" SU's best so far is 34.5. So average now is back where it was but with more powaaaar! Sun-Tor: Never measured it but it feels more thirsty than the others for some reason though this might just bne becuase of the diddy tank and the percieved extra weight of luggin around a kitchen . Probably still averaging mid - high twenties though. All are or have been daily driven.
