Hi,
On my 1985 Golf (1.3, Weber carburettor) I have just discovered my 3rd leaky fuel pump in a row.
The first one caused an engine fire and I was lucky to get away without losing the car.
The second one lasted a couple of months but it was spotted at the MOT so I got away with it and a new one was fitted by the garage.
Now, a few months later the same problem again is there. The pump leaks where the two halves of the casing meet.
Could there be an underlying cause for the failures? Surely it couldn't be 3 defective units in a row? I'm not sure what to do now so any advice would be great.
Cheers,
Chris
