	just sold my cortina and am fed up with using the wifes boring fwd vauxhall astray!! so ive decided to get on with my iveco engined nissan 720 kingcab.. it has been sat for a good 3 years wilst i "get round to it".. yeah right... so i thought i better knuckle down and get on with it. all the suspension bushes brakes chassis and ally tipper bed is done so only needs: engine fitting, a quike once over in regulation matt black, an interior, a bit of a tidy up of some wireing etc, and an mot!! so this weekend the engine has been mounted up. not the best job really i really should have reshaped the sump so that it sits a little lower as the diff is right in the way!! (typical) but i really don't have the time as in want it on the road and it whould only give another 1" for about 4 hours work so it will stay where it is for now. sod it!! ;D so i fit a oil filter. make a few blanking plates etc.. a can of diesel a bit of cranking to get the oil pressure up and yehy it runs!! next I'm off to the scrappy to find a rad and intercooler!! sounds nice with 18" of downpipe and no silencer i think.. should i leave it with just a turbo to silence it or maybe just one strait through box?? s4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/realwheeldriver/kingcab%20720/?action=view¤t=MVI_2566.flv

	Hah, that's cool! ;D I like the way it sounds as it is at the moment! I can't imagine it'll be too noisy.....after all, once you've got it going, it's not too hard to add another box but taking one off could be boring

	yeah i think your right.. with another 3 feet of pipe on the end it will be a bit quiater anyway.... prob?! noisey but not offensive! si

	What are the specs on the engine? Gotta love that feeling of achieving what you set out to do - most often my spannering days end up in me finding far more bits to fix!

	the engine is a iveco turbo daily 2.8 approx 1998/9 the last of the more reliable ones with an oul school distributer pump rather than commenrail. the commenrail is a bit better on power but this is enough i will up the boost and fit an intercooler which should help. power is 90kw (120 hp) at 3600 and torque is 285Nm at 1800 (210lb ft) so it should not hang about just want it reliable really.

	We've got one of them in our LWB Daily 45-12 service barge (K-plate ex-Notts Police dog van), I think it's the 2.5 though at that age...cracking motor though, even with the kitchen, 7 of us and all the spare wheels, fuel etc she'll pull 75 all day with the trailer and rally car on the back. Your 720 should go like the proverbial with that in it, nice one.

	hasnt the common rail iveco also gone over to fly-by wire throttle. More trouble than its worth especially when conversions are involved. Excellent work with the king BTW. Cant wait to see a video clip of it driving. 	yeah i think some are FBW throttles something to do with econemy usually but i don't like them! that intercooler looks good but ive not got too much room really i was thinking a full size saab or volvo one the one that sits behind the rad. will work that out when ive got a rad i think.. si

Bear in mind though that she's a high roof LWB with fridge, water tank, microwave, TV, aircraft seats, table, all the police kitchen fittings (it was all white inside and looked like an ambulance until we emptied a dozen bags of stickers all over the walls) plus 6 steel dog cages filled with about 15 wheels/tyres and 4 jerrycans of fuel....towing a 16' long twin-axle trailer with a Sunbeam on it. It's got to be pushing 5 tons at least gross (minus the rust.....which being a 13yr old Iveco is considerable ), I know it takes two feet on the pedal and a banana-shaped steering wheel to stop from that speed hahahaha Brian
