Pulled the plug out the diff and half a pint of metallic black paint and a set of broken teeth and bits of stuff came out. I reckon it's that then! ;D id bet money on it being the diff, had pretty much the same thing happen on mine i should charge for my expert diagnostics....id make a fortune ;D ;D

Cheers guys. Haven't got the time to do a complete swap right now (really irritating) because I've got the Anglia to do, the residents here complaining about it and a girl breathing down my neck about it. This weekend was going to end all my problems with it because it was finished so the bloody last thing I needed was a disaster like this. 79 it's got 30 horsepower, the last thing I expectd to go was the diff ;D No seriously it did something different to last time and locked the axle up but I'll know better and listen next time Braindamagedbrian I'm in Kent but I might have sorted one already. I'll let you know but as long as he's not tooooooo far away and I can collect it this week I might be up for it. It's nearly there.

No, another annoyance is it's the old banjo axle so different to the small 60's Fords and even the 100E.
Apparently they go quite easily so if a menacing Mad Max Road Warrior fake supercharger esque 30hp can break it then it must be quite puny.

the 100e has got a banjo axle also though it has a proper prop though I think the e93a pop's got a torque tube prop?, ive got a 100e axle if its any help diff internals might be the same.
oh ive also got the hub puller for the rear hubs if you need to strip the axle down

Yes the pop has a torque tube which makes everything a pain in the butt to work on. It looks like such a good idea until you have to change anything. Long live the prop!
I'm going to look into the 100E diff though, I might have that off you later as the ratio will be better (read as not 5.5:1 lol)
For the time being I've got to do a whole axle due to time and complaints. My garage isn't wide enough to pull the shafts out with the axle in the car and I'll get complained at by the residents association if I do it outside.

i believe to pull the shafts on the 100e axle you have to get the hubs off and seperate the banjo part of the diff as the sun gears are fixed to the ends of the shafts
