Do any of you 200SX nutters happen to know the dimensions of the automatic gearbox used in some of these cars? I'm mainly after the length, but any information will be helpful.
If you haven't got the exact dimensions, would you happen to know if they are the same size as the manual gearbox as I can find out the dimensions of one of those for comparison?

More or less the same length I believe. Slightly smaller diameter at the rear end as no shifter assembly so probably easier to fit into a car with a small tunnel. Still a fairly large box overall though.

I haven't got an SR autobox to hand but I have got one from a VG30E which is basically the same size just a different bell housing.
I have a feeling the SR box, particularly the S14 ones, might be electronically controlled and have their own ECU. Could make for extra hassle installing one in a different car.

Any dimension would be handy, thanks :-) I think I could cope with the ECU situation if I had a wiring diagram, or maybe I'd be able to extract the relevant wiring from the donor car's loom.
Any ideas how much power these things can cope with?

I've got wiring diagrams for an S14 in PDF form. You'll be glad to know the engine wiring is very easy. probably the easiest EFI system I have ever wired up. I've no idea how much power the auto will handle but a stock SR is around 200bhp so I'd expect to be able to push near 300 through it safely if not more.

Sounds good to me. If you get a spare minute with your tape measure on that one from the VG30E I'd be grateful. Length including bellhousing, engine mounting face to gearbox mount and a couple of widths along its length would be great :-)
