Found this video as I had a crazy thought to search for V8 rally cars. I was impressed by the Monaro - balls of steel to rally a car that big and powerful. Also there is a V8 Skoda in there too! Found a pic Any more out of the ordinary rally cars you can think of?

What about this for an exclusive, unusual rally car. One of 4 genuine phase IV Falcons. Only 2 of these left, Allan Moffat's old race car (in the bowden collection) and 1 road car owned by a Sydney dentist. Supposedly worth more than a cool million!! I don't think He'd be going this hard if he knew how much it would be worth in 40 years

Carlsson used a SAAB 95 in the '61 Monte Carlo too. I was under the impression that an estate was used because they had a better gearbox at that time. But then I read a contemporary report last week that suggested it was to do with the weight of the car, the French having devised some performance 'equalling' equation that just happened to benefit the French Panhards who came 1-2-3.
