Right been thinking about getting one of these recently. Can't do the VR6 right now (I'm presuming it will eat petrol?), but mainly thinking about the 1800 16v, followed by the 2000 16v or the G60.
I'm sure someone mentioned to me that the 1800 16v has quicker acceleration than the G60 and the 2000 16v? Is this right??
What are the other pro's and cons of each model......anything to look out for?....I know on the G60 the superchargers need overhauling at about 60k. anything else??

I don't know much about them except that I really like 'em. Had a G60 for the day and it really shifts! Feels very Mk2 Golf-esque except your ass is nearer the ground.

My uncle had a VR6 one for quite a while and he loved it. He then got a higher paid job and bought a Merc C coupe and a Caterham, but, although he won't admit it, my auntie recons he would much rather have a 'rado than the merc.

Had a VR6 blat past me yesterday. Spewing blue oil as he nailed it so driving like that all of the time is probably a bad idea.
Nice cars but I prefer the looks of the Scirocco myself. The Corrado's time will come though.

corrado's are nice but they always seem to be plagued with problems.

If only everything in life was as reliable...
There's a VR6 up against a Porsche 944 in the Jan 07 Classic Cars mag.

I seem to recall Richard Hammond doing a piece on the Corrado on Top Gear where he quite rightly reckoned that it, along with the Merc 190 Cosworth, was the most desirable of all the early 1990's classics-in-waiting.
The G60 is a fast but rather fragile piece of kit according to popular legend, I think I'd go for the VR6 just because they sound so grunty..

Mr brother has got a VR6 and it sounds awesome, at 6K RPM it makes a superb wailing noise. They also have pop up spoilers, which if like me you are childish and like gimmicks makes it even cooler:) They can suffer from anoying little problems, as they were built by Karmann you don't get the full VW build quality, door handles are very weak and cost about £60 each I think he can afford to run it as he gets cheap bits from work and it does about 20-25MPG on a short commute a bit more on a long run. Interior is a bit cramped in the rear and not very inspriring in the front, basically like a passat. I should imagine you could get a four pot to go as fast as the VR6 but I doubt it would ever sound as good

its worth doing your homework before buying bits for these,a corrado is a bit of a vw bitsa,so a lot of parts are shared with other (read cheaper) veedubs.the rear suspension is passat based and the front is good ol' mk2 golf, the switches are largely passat, and some smaller bits of trim are golf and passat.

love them, especially a clean vr6 or a properly maintained g60- charger unit = £500-1000 depending on who/how u go about rebuilding/replacing 'apptly'. a lot of good info and awesome cars, despite some of the attitude, over on corrado.net forum. electrics seem to cause a lot of grief i read when researching and considering a switch from scirocco last year- roof, spoilers, seats and on the VR the timing chains need to have been changed recently otherwise a big bill coming your way. try the edition 38 and no rice sites too for some of the better cars and information- in particular for engine tips given how many g60 vr6 converted mk1 and 2 golfs, jettas etc there are out there.
what i really like about the rado is the purposeful if not necessarily typical 'pretty' coupe styling, really 'taut' wheel at each corner stance whether standard or modded.
