On a positive note! How about a RR track day 2007? Some time Spring to Summer, so we have chance to recoup the Xmas spendage and get outside on the car. A 'ring run' is already suggested in the events section , which is a great idea i'd love to do that too. also the RRshow an August. I'm thinking of something cheap cheerful and easily achievable, and so i can be a lazy bones and not break down, somewhere vaguely North but if we're all getting involved to take over a track for a day we could meet half way somewhere This was taken at Anglessey, great track, tight and windy ~ so you can have fun and go 'fast' in anything. the MR2 lot organised it, it was £100-£150 or summat in order of commitment. I'd hate to fully organise this but could co organise it with some of the go getters and deal makers on here. So if ya seriously interested lets start a list with name and 2007 location. Comments, suggestions, and volunteers all welcome! List: Reanimation - Manchester

I was discussing this very subject with Dave on the way back from the Midlands Meet last night - cracking idea. Even though Anglesey is a far way, the drive takes in some excellent roads (at least from the Midlands). Plus Aunty has a caravan there I could stay in £150 woudl be well into my upper limit though. Perhaps an airfield could be cheaper?

The cost worries me too, maybe there re cheaper options someone will come on who knows soon.... If we only get a few interested we could just go drop into a regular general track day. cost might be cos whole club booked it and expected say 20-35 cars to show

I can get you all in on a track session in early spring in Norfolk
Not a race track like silverstone but a handling circuit (with a 1.5 straight for top speed runs) on a RAF Base
£60 per car (can have up to two drivers)
Full days session with up to 180 track miles potential
I've posted about it on here before and there was next to FA interest but I'll try once more!!

(whispers) Donnington Park, it's only down the road from Sheffield It'll probably cost a billion quid though.

^^ yeah a drive round Maccy D's car park at 11pm! Pretend its the 'ring, you know, doing burnouts and that. Bored of that. Broke too many gearboxes and lower arm mounts. Seriously, I'd give it a go but at a price which I can afford. Add fuel, food and buying something nice for the wife to bribe her into letting me go (almost a joke LOL) and thats £250 depending on how far I have to travel. Is this for a half day or a full day? Unrestricted track time or set slots?

The £60 idea sounds more appealing (yes, slow cars like to go fast too - if that makes sense...). Question is, which slow car to take?!

With plenty of advance warning - I'm in! Just the logistics of getting there......... May even prove a target for getting somethin 'special' done! EDIT - as I'm in Belgium - I have no say in location as they'll all be a ferry ride - unless you're all hankering after a bash a Spa en route to the 'ring! ;D

Anglesey's undergoing a complete rebuild at the minute, you can bet that once the place reopens it won't be cheap.
What about Curborough? Just off the A38 between Lichfield and Burton...certainly a lot of the Midlands MSA Motor Clubs run evening track thrashes there in the summer.....trouble is being a sprint course it's one car at a time, but it's certainly a lot cheaper.

Donnington is not cheap... bloke next door races in Forgotten Era (bikes) and the club organised a Donnington round - the hire costs for the weekend were about £35k!
I wondered about Curborough too - however I emailed them earlier this year about something similar and recieved no response, although I never chased it up, as the issue resolved itself.
I must have missed the Norfolk idea when it was mentioned before - sounds perfect to me.

I would be up for that. Javelin organise plenty of days, don't know if it would be possible to contact them to see about an RR specific day. Elvington airfield, nr York is £75 for the day through them. The monzas in hibernation at the minute but when it comes out I plan on taking it there.
I don't really mind the distance I am travelling to the event, prefer it to be do-able in a day unless we plan on having an overnight meet though.

The Rally Drive track at Blyton, between Gainsborough and Scunthorpe costs around £800 to hire for the day, split this between however many cars and costs could be £40 per car if 20 cars turned up. The track is about 1.5 miles, its an old airfield, but it is a good track, and i think they allow 6 cars on track at a time.
