So over the moon right now! Just bought my Toledo, a 1974 car in honeysuckle with a brown vinyl interior with 92'110 miles! It's overall condition is not too shabby, front wings will need replacing, some work on the doors, new exhaust system and replacing some suspension parts, bushes and bearing really. Apart from that ( and a small hole in the floor) the car is great and i love it! Here's a few quick pics.. Plans for the car: First up is to replace the wings. The original ones on now have had a cheap 'repair', and although it looks good from a distance, close up it's a poor finish of filler. Another point is the doors, they may be okay now but the bottom is filler, so whether they will just be repaired or maybe i will source new doors, i don't know! Then a full respray! In honeysuckle, as some parts seem to look almost brush painted! But overall it looks great as it is. I'm not sure how far i'll go, as in I may strip it down and do all the underside honeysuckle to, but as it's my daily driver i don't know :/ New carpets, new wing mirrors ( got none ), black and silver plates and other niggly bits.. The car is in need of a new full exhaust system, probably minus a silencer or two with a cherrybomb in the middle or something, nothing mad but just to give it a raspy sound! Also, as soon as i sell my fiesta the wheels are sent off the be banded a little, about an inch and a half, then sprated either body colour, black or white with the chrome hub caps on, unsure at the mo & to give it the look i want, i think i will send off the springs to be cut and properly re-tensioned and all of that Phew, i think that's everything, lemme know what you think! Absolutely in love with it

Excellent looking car, nice one. The interior particularly looks really tidy. And thanks for posting the speedo pic, I don`t know what it is but I love old Smiths instruments.

My friend came very close to buying this car (I had a quick butchers for him). Did you haggle the chap down enough in the end? It seemed to be solid in the right places mind you .

Managed to get him down to £850, which seemed good i thought! Needs a bit of work to get it to the condition i want though, mind you, the wings are full of filler :/ Still, all it really needs for an MOT is new bushes and bearings, so good value i think

Been doing some work on the toledo's engine over the week, just generally tidyng up the engine bay, here's a few pics! Decided i don't like the look of the rocker cover in silver, just doesn't look right IMO, so i've re-sanded it down and it's being done in crinkle finish black tomorrow Also re-adjusted the front wheel bearings today, to get rid of some of the play & the head, mid way through being 'de-carbonised', will be polished up all nice and shiny as well! So on the list for tomorrow is to repaint the top of the carb, ( the black plastic bit ) as it's been scratched lightly all over, and to replaint my rocker cover, more pictures will follow! Also, new gaskets and rubber hoses will be ordered soon, and the valves will be removed so the inside of the head can be fully emptied of 38 years of gunk! Thanks, Dan

When I drove that car, it did seem slow for a 1300, but at the time I was driving a 106 GTi as a daily! I guess the decoke should restore a few horses . Agreed on the plates (AlistairK may say something his visit from the police about a Cortina he once had). I went with some old school plates quite like the ones already on your car . Whilst it is not my place to say I would seriously consider changing the rack mounts on that car, with poly items being a preferable alternative . It looks like the car has been keeping you busy with your engine detailing skills . It should make for a pleasant looking Tolly once your have addressed the paint and wheels (the banding should work quite well .

I'm hoping it will do, every little counts when it only started with 58bhp in the first place! I hope they won't attract too much attention, but i'll probably keep the original plates in the car with me for a few months, just so I can swap over if i'm stopped & thanks, i shall look into it, sounds lke it could be worth it! & hopefully it will look great, thanks! I've sourced some original steel wings to replace my filler wings, once that's done it should be ready to begin the paintwork, and once my fiesta has been sold i'll get the steels banded!

Very nice but I'd stick with the plates you have on it already, they look more original and look better in my opition. Look forwards to the updates.

Not updated this is ages! First off, put everything back together and got the thing running, looks and sounds great, but has thrown another job into the to-do list, which is to re-cord the radiator. Somehow I don't think they're meant to throw water out from everywhere! Apart from that I've bought myself some NOS front wings, which require very very little work, besides paintwork But, most importantly, my mom has gone on holiday for four weeks, meaning my dad can get the car down to a garage to sort out the wings, doors etc.. just generally de-rustify the whole thing! (my mom has no idea a single penny is being spent on this car, we decided it's best to keep it that way lol) Also, he's mentioned that he might try and get them to repaint the car for me, instead of us in the garage, which made my face do something like this: ;D but it's no guarantee Would be pretty awesome if they did, as I know it'd be a good job seen as they did the re-spray on the db7 I think that's all I have to say, thanks for reading

My grandad had one of those - great little car and first car I ever drove (on a local private airfield) what I can never remember (I'm sure someone with put me right) is I think these were RWD and the 1300's were FWD but I seem to get confused

Time for an update.. finally!I'll start off by apologising for posting far too many pics of rather boring bodywork.. So, bodywork has begun - the wings are off, the NOS ones I had, see above posts, have been shot-blasted, have a coat of primer and stone chip. Plus smoothed them out, chopped off a few welding repairs and such. With the wings off, it's pretty obvious that some new metal will be needed, for the headlight backing plates and on the edge of the front panel..although most of it is great! Will most likely get all the underseal off the arches, and have nice fresh paint there.. Bad bits Also, not very important, but I have been collecting a few odds and ends to add once the car is done - more pics! Nice 'n' rare S/S hub caps, with all important stickers! Bits New unused Unipart radio! I'll keep this updated now, as progress should keep flowing, if all goes to plan! Thanks for looking, Dan

It is looking like good progress is being made with your Toledo... I like the little stash of 'goodies' you've got to add to your car, they will all go some way to enhancing what is already a corking little motor... I really need to get stuck in to my Toledo and prod about in the deepest darkest recesses to start getting rust out and fresh metal in!!! Here's how mine looks now... Good luck with your project... Please do keep the updates and pictures coming as it will be really very helpful to refer to when doing mine

I guess their scarcity and now individual features probably has a bit to answer for.

How's your Toledo coming along sir...?! One thing that would look great on yours is to 'matt black' the boot from just above the chrome trim where the boot lock is to the top of that flat part (I hope that makes sense?!)... Not only will it look 1970's perfect it'll increase your cars speed and value a million times over, honest I look forward to seeing some restoration updates soon, it'll help me with mine...!!!

Getting there, slowly but surely! Managed to find all the panels I needed, including the front panel that the headlights attach to, that was like gold when we saw it, on the final stall at Stoneleigh ;D Just waiting on some small bits for the lower front panel to be fabricated, which should arrive any day now, then hopefully it'll be go-go-go! & funny you said that, I was thinking of doing just that - on the TDC forum there was a thread about a special edition Toledo 'Plus' that had it, and gave me the idea. & of course, I've heard it can add up to 20bhp you know I'll probably just use a vinyl wrap material though, just incase! I'll be sure to keep this updated with any progress! Anything planned for yours in the near future then?
