Hi all Well as I said in a previous post I was having problems with my front brakes on mt B310 Coupe! I stripped them down and found the piston to be quite badly pitted and it was sticking! I rubbed them down and greased them up which improved them for a bit but they still arnt right!!! Now under braking it pulls lots to the left and is a bit scary! Now ideally I'd like to upgrade the brakes now rather than messing around trying to fix the old ones! I'd love a bit more braking power too so I thought about looking into the 280x swap! However, I don't know what's needed, how easy it is to do or how much it would cost!?!? I'd also like the struts so they can be converted to coilovers! Does anyone have any advice on this please do I can work out how to go about it! Cheers

Well...280Z's were never sold in the UK, so the struts are harder to come by. Probably looking at an e-bay jobby with them stripped of the calipers.
Calipers you can buy re-manufactured (check rock-auto, its significantly cheaper than ebay). Infact I bought a pair the other week for my Z!
As for sectioning the struts, check DirtyS30's blog for his guide. They are similar but not the same as 240/260Z struts, the strut tubes have a greater OD.
Essentially though, you grind off the spring perch, remove the old strut, cut the strut tube in half, insert new shorter strut, work out how much is excess on the top half of the strut tube, cut off the excess, weld back together, weld on new spring perch.

280ZX
Alramone has done some and as the 280ZX strut is already shorter all that is needed is a coilover kit (from the MK2 Escort i believe) and a different master cylinder so you don't get a long brake pedal.

If you're having difficulty finding the struts, put a wanted post on zclub.net, you'll almost certainly get a reply with someone selling a pair.
