...the kind of stuff used on dashboards, plenums etc.
Anyone got experience of using it?
I want to paint a modified gauge pod and was wondering how well it covered? I've still got some textured areas of the original plastic and some smooth areas where I've glued and filled so I'm wanting to know how far I need to take the preparation.
Thanks.

Sorry to jump in but I'm interested in crinkle paint but for rockercovers, like on some of the Honda engines.

You can get it in rattle cans from Frosts - clickyDoesn't mention any special prep required. Not tried it though.

I had my Barrels on the Ducati Powder coated in Black crackle finish which was a superb job... www.redditchshotblasting.co.uk worked out about £50 per barrel but there was a lot of Masking up involved

I think I remember dad spraying the rocker covers and inlet plenum, allowing to touch dry and putting them in a low oven to force the wrinkle to happen. Heat might affect the density of the wrinkles I think is what I'm trying to say but I've had too many beers this lunchtime :x

I'm an ex paint sprayer and from my experience of the stuff I would recommend getting the base material to the same overall finish as it will affect the final look of the job even through the wrinkle. I've used rattle cans of the stuff as well and they tend to be hit and miss. One can will give a good finish but the next might not.A little frustraing but when it does go right it's the nuts. The amount of paint applied determines the amount of wrinkle you get.A light coat will give a light wrinkle and a heavy coat a heavy wrinkle.

There's a picture of dad's engine about halfway down this page: www.burnhamautos.com/millennium.htm but it's a bit difficult to see the wrinkles All the black bits are wrinkle finish.

I'll be going for a faily heavy wrinkle to blend in with the dashboard.
