Someone has kindly left me some goodies in my yard, including an old CB radio. would it be incredibly pointless and silly for me to try and get it hooked up in the car?  been trying to find pics of the dukes of hazzard or smokey and the bandit for some pics of 70s guys with CB radios, but no such luck  --- bit OT, but if anyone's intersted, the other "goodies" included: most of a bike frame, a tatty office swivel chair, a weathered patio chair, a selection of Zoo magazines, some old PC speakers, what looks to be a freeview box (soggy), and some kind of electric motor with a piston on the end, maybe a pump. |

I'd love a retro CB Radio. anyone here still use em?!

I still have mine hooked up in the midget, I never used the conventional ariel though, just a coil of coax.

Sounds like you live next door to a charity shop! ;D quote] no, but that does give me an idea... or would that just be mean? it's not really "my" yard, it's my GF's fathers. come to think of it it's not really a yard either, just a fenced off bit of concrete. the reason for all the stuff is the street sweepers park their carts there, so i assume it's them leaving bits about. quite why they do i can't work out, all this stuff was left for a few days out in the rain. |

I've got one, works fine, never had it in any of my cars though, thought it might be very handy in my van at shows for some reason !  Where can i get a nice magnetic mount aeriel from ? |

get it stuck in ur car mate, even if it doesnt work the big spring arial will make ur car look like its remote controlled which is always a winner

hmmm don't think there was an aerial with it will have a rummage in the box though! might just put it in for effect, even if it doesn't work (likely) |

u'll be able to get a arial for next to nowt i would imagine, alot of te irish mini boys i know have em, look cool IMO

Hook it up to a speaker for a laugh! Several of the guys in our club have one, Good for a convoy!

Hook it up to a speaker for a laugh! Several of the guys in our club have one, Good for a convoy! lol might have to do that! speaker mounted outside the car and a blue light on top! ive one in my starlet and corolla with a big 5ft aerial we use them alot over here great for going to rallys and stuff  |

my dad had one on his orange mk2 capri hooked up to speakers under the bonnet, my cousins thought it was a talking car.

I was offered a box of old CB's at a car boot sale in the summer for a fiver. I asked the missus:
Me: "Shall I get this box of CB's? They're only a fiver."
She: "Will one of them fit in my car."
Me (raises eyebrows in amazement) "Yeah, one'll fit easily.)
She (looking at them a bit more closely now): "So where's the CD go in then?"
Me: "CB, not CD"
At which point she just yanked me away from the stall before I could part with my dosh as "You don't need any more curse word." as she put it.
