I like the cut of your jib sir. this is meant in the most sarcastic and non offensive manner, but cutting out rust and repairing it with slightly younger rust is a new slant on car repairs ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Update time! Well, sort of. 'I'll repair that little rust hole at the rear of the van' thinks I. 'I'll just remove the bit of trim behind that bit of metalwork so I don't send the van up in flames whilst welding it up' thinks I. To take that piece of trim off, I need to remove that bit. To get at that, that panel has to come off. And that one. And that one. Ah, sod it, I was half thinking of re-trimming the van anyway, so out it all comes! The plans are to have..... actually you'll have to wait and see ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) The repaired hole (the rest of the rust isn't bad enough to cut out, just needs cleaning a little more, treating and a thin smear of filler to smooth it out): ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/bladerunner_30/Van/P9060083.jpg) And how the interior looks. I need to man it up and go to the market at the weekend to look for some fabric..... ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/bladerunner_30/Van/P9060082.jpg) Also I could do with ideas on insulation for the roof, I'm planning on using some kind of self adhesive (or glued) insulation which should also help deaden any sound. Moreso than the pieces of polystyrene that are just sort of wedged up there. I might also try and get some cheap 'dynamat' type stuff to put on the walls behind the insulation that is already there - keep everything as quiet (and warm) as possible on the inside....! For a little teaser, I've ordered a couple of different types of LED to see which ones I like the effect of best... EDIT: I also removed the entire dash as the front speakers were awful and seemed to be upsetting my head unit. Turns out they were 6x4s and 10 ohms which is a bit of an unusual resistance! Conveniently I had a pair of Infinity 4" speakers which sit in the holes nicely. I also put the RCA/switch wiring in for an amp for a subwoofer in the future and sorted the rear speaker wiring out. Technically I've still got a couple of metres to chop out but at least I know what goes where. Why do people leave so much damned wire behind when it's not necessary. Pah.

Bother, my gearbox seems to have lost 2nd gear.... I've (somewhat optimistically) ordered a 2-4 servo on account of it being the only part that *may* help and doesn't require box removal and rebuild...
Watch this space, I suspect the box will be out before too long!

God I love yank vans!!! On my VW t4 I used cheap flashband from scewfix to soundeaden the roof followed by the foil type bubble wrap insulation from b and q. Did the job perfectly and quite cheap. Used 50mm celotex to insulate the side walls with more flash and over the wheel arches.

As predicted, the 2-4 servo made sod-all difference and the box is getting worse every time I try and move it! As such, I'm going to see what interest there is in breaking it as I don't really have time to sort the box out myself! ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
