Cheers for the comments guys. Anybody else wish they never bothered? And it was nearly in as well - time to find a spare! On a better note, everything is painted! The bonnet is on, and looks lovely The doors are hung, and the shut lines look pretty good (a minor miricle as I hate spending hours aligning things) and even some of the details are coming along - take one scruffy heater control panel add a handy sticker (I love ebay) and wallah Next big job is to get the wings on (and then find out the shut lines are actually terrible) and to find a new rear screen..... damn it!

A little in front of the TV detailing I blame the "Devils in the detail" thread!

Well another day and a little more progress. Nothing photo worthy really as it's been a day of soldering - and now we have a Capri with an alarm, immobilizer and the real reason for doing it all, remote central locking. Yes we really are trying to make it like a modern car! This week I need to find a new screen, get the wings on and wire in the stereo

One week there's a ton of updates and then nothing! Well stuff has been happening, but mostly boring wiring. Fitted in a high level brake light, got most of the speaker wiring done including getting wires to the doors, properly - which is why it took a while... And the central locking stuff is finally totally finished, and seems to work pretty well. So now I'm turning my attention to getting the rest of the body built back up, first up are the wings the other side is still to do. Took me ages as well, but guess that's fibreglass wings for you. Plus I might have spent ages getting the shut lines the best I could Quite happy with that. Also tried the wheels we're going with at the front end as I hadn't seen if they'd fill the arches yet! Thankfully, they do. Just got to decide what tyre size to run now, oh and paint them a proper gloss black. That's all for now.

better than nothing! did you get the rear screen in second time around? Don't forget that the last 10% takes 90% of the time!! The fiddly finishing bits make a massive difference and also means the car is more likely to last than have to be continually fiddled with... not like a certain Mini or anything...

Life just keeps getting in the way! Plus it really does take forever to get things to fit well, and to prep and paint all the bits before bolting on... But it is starting to look more like a car

Commiserations on the rear screen, hope the 2nd one goes in ok.
Paint looks great. Which panels are wrapped and which are sprayed?

Erm well make that screen number 3..... the second one was chipped and so didn't go in so well. 3rd time lucky and all that!
And it's all sprayed now, gave up on the wrapped look

The ethos of this project has been great truth be told. I see it is not far until you finish eh? FWIW regarding the rear screen getting the Stag windscreen refitted was not massively cheap but then I had little choice (the trims are now unavailable and when for sale seem to go for more than what I paid to have the windscreen refitted). At least with the Fords parts availability and pricing is relatively reasonable .

Looking great, love the colour , did you not fancy sticking a red II sticker behind the Capri badge ?, always loved that detail on MK2's

Cheers guys, it's getting there! The screen trouble all seems to have been caused by trying to use a new mk3 type seal in a mk2 tailgate. Apparently there is a slight difference in the seal thickness and aperture hence ending up trying to force the screen into too small a hole.... thankfully now have a good used mk2 seal so hopefully that'll do the trick. Quite like the Capri II stickers too, mifht be one of those 'facelift' changes dor the future Sent from my GT-I9305 using proboards

Well with the house work on going progress has been slow but steady on the Capri The bumpers are now all painted up, fitted and look really good given how they started All the exterior trim has been refreshed and fitted as well (starting to look like a complete car, on the outside at least) And amazingly the plan to try and make the headlining look better actually worked (vinyl dye is awesome it seems). You'd never have guessed this was a nicotine stained mess 2 days ago, so glad its come out well as I really didn't want to try replacing it! It's starting to look very Audi like inside now, but in a good way. Next up is to get a carpet made and build up the interior - it really is starting to get there
