To anyone who had played Grand Turismo, these cars will be kind of familiar. If you haven't ever played GT then you may not have ever heard of them.
They are a mini-estate type vehicle about the size of a Mk6 Fiesta/Ford Fusion but a LOT better. Generally bought by people as retirement cars in this country, they are usually overlooked by most people looking for a small car. This one has only had one previous owner from new (I'm the second owner).
This one is a 1.5 manual 'Escape' model which has a fair range of toys on it as standard despite its looks. Being a 1.5 it falls into the lower tax bracket and therefore is cheap to tax. It's also very economical and surprisingly nippy (seriously, it goes a lot better than it has any right to!)
Mechanically, this car is absolutely first class. I started it this morning for the first time in over a month (I'm just not using it much at the moment hence me selling it) and it fired into life with the first flick of the key. It has such a sweet, quiet, smooth, free revving engine....it really is so nicely made.
All other mechanicals are perfect and in the time I've had it there has only been one issue to sort. That was a leaking power steering rack which was already like that when I got the car. I recently had the rack fully refurbished and a four wheel laser alignment done afterwards.
Other than that, the car has been faultless and I've done many miles in it since getting it and would happily drive it anywhere in the country.
Bodywork wise it is pretty mint apart from three minor things - some slight bubbling on the very front corner of the bonnet (drivers side) which has got no worse since I bought the car and wouldn't be difficult to get sorted.
There is also a small dent on the rear door just behind the drivers door. It's about 3" tall and looks like someone in the past has opened the door onto something. It's minor but I thought it best to mention it.
There is also some scuffing to the nearside front bumper on the corner. You can see this in the photos but it's not major and to be honest, I was happy to live with it.
Other than that, the bodywork is superb. There is NO rust in the arches, the sills or anywhere else for that matter, it's a really nice car and has been pretty well looked after.
Inside it's all light grey and airy. Everything works perfectly and the interior is very flexible giving a lot more space than most cars this size.
The rear seats split/fold but also slide back & forth, recline, tip up and move into different positions to give you bigger and bigget boot space if you need. When folded forward they give masses of space, I've had a Honda ATC (quad size trike) in the back with some room to spare!
The spec of the car is as follows:
1.5 16V engine
5 speed manual gearbox
Power steering
Air conditioning (still works fine)
Alloy wheels (14")
Remote central locking
Electric windows X4
Electric mirrors
Large electric sunroof
Mutli adjustable height/tilt seat (drivers side)
Adjustable steering column
Front fog lights
Dashboard illumination dim
Headlight adjusters
Multi-adjustable rear seats
Airbags
Deep metallic blue paint
I'm sure I've forgotten some of the spec!
It really is a superb little car and it's done me very well over the time I've had it. It drives superbly and is great around town as well as being quiet and comfortable on motorways. The GF and I went away for a fortnight with the dog and took this instead of the Delica for once. Over the two weeks we covered over 1,000 miles and it was superb the whole time, like I said, I'd happily take it anywhere knowing it's dead reliable and economical.
I haven't worked out the actual MPG but I would reckon it's getting mid-40's when driven gently and probably mid-late 30's around town.
Overall it's a superb little car for the money and I really shouldn't be selling it because I can't think of anything in this price bracket that's as cheap to run, reliable, versatile or comfortable all in one!
Here are quite a few more photos to give you an idea of the condition....
